I don't see how it could be visual only when there were so many other things reset to default at same time.

    The other things being reset always happens when the cache is cleared. Why it happened with the update is unclear. But after seeing the post about the privacy changing, I checked mine and it was unchanged. So no, we don't have evidence that this setting changes with game data settings.
