I'd have been putting more in the FAQs, but I haven't been seeing those.
What's being done with the Spectre tag is incredibly frustrating to me. Ahsoka was not a Spectre, but her being a Spectre "by extension" was an explanation that I bought, because I assumed - incorrectly - that it was telegraphing that her squad was being built out around the actual Spectres, rather than just being a random tag that meant "Ahsoka's buddies from Season 1".
"Spectre" has a meaning. The Ghost crew from Rebels - Hera, Kanan, Chopper, Zeb, Sabine, and Ezra - were the Spectres. So seeing Fulcrum and Huyang get the tag, and the other actual Spectres not get it is frustrating, to a point where I - who play this game largely for the thematics/aesthetics - wish I hadn't invested in Ahsoka's journey and instead had gone for Baylan first and taken the long way around on Ahsoka. I'm not exaggerating to say this is the thing I've been most frustrated over in SWGOH for two years. For others, I'm well aware, it's no big deal.
But seeing the constant, inelegant callouts to give Hera specific synergy with Zeb, bending over backwards not to give him the Spectre tag - even though he is a Spectre as opposed to Ahsoka, Fulcrum, and Huyang - is just rubbing salt in the wound. This isn't an immersive game, but the closest thing I can think of to explain how I feel is to say that it "breaks immersion".
This game can't be 100% lore accurate. I get that. But no one forced CG to choose Spectre as the tag for this squad, when Spectre has a specific meaning that doesn't include nearly half the people who are getting the tag, and the fact that it was chosen as the tag for this team nevertheless is frustrating to me. It shows a lack of care towards the thematics and aesthetics that are a big draw of why I play this game.
Sorry to rant. Thanks for posting this on a holiday week, Meathead. Happy Thanksgiving!
I love your explaining lol
