I feel like everyone is missing the massive positive in this update.
Players no longer have to wait months and months or spend crystals to get these ships to 7 stars - just a matter of days. I'll trade 10 shards every month to unlock these ships so much faster.
This change means that new players pushing for SLKR no longer have to wait ages to get a 7 star Finalizer.
A genuine good update I think. Taking away the shards makes sense if it's a daily event, otherwise we would be getting 300 shards a month for each ship instead of 10. Sure it's a tiny hit to shard currency but worth it for players needing these ships. I still don't have some of these at 7 stars on my other accounts so I'm happy
In isolation, the SSC from one of these battles isn't a huge deal. Over months, all of these battles deliver a healthy chunk of SSC. When viewed in the context of all the other changes a clear pattern is emerging. This is not a good thing - even if it feels good to some players in the short term.
Sure over months you would get what like 120 shards of SSC a year. Doesn't seem that much compared to even just a single event refresh in terms of crystals or even the value gained by having a 7 star Finalizer in fleet arena for early players or if it wins you a battle in GAC because it's stronger. I see this as a win for the playerbase as a whole, even if it hurts the feelings of the long term players that have everything maxed already. Helping the smaller/newer accounts is worth it
honestly, i think im with you. this is a great update for new players and for those who havent yet got all these ships 7*. unfortunately most players and the most vocal ones will feel hard done by cause they "lost some shards"
I can see the logic of this update, though in the mist of current previous updates people are just diving on the negative.

No one is missing that. There was just no reason to remove SSC we've had for years at the same time. Don't be a dummy.
I'm not being a dummy. If you're bothered about the 10 SSC you need to reevaluate what you value about the game. You can easily get that by getting a 200 raid mk1 character you have at 330 already. The opportunity cost of going from a 4 to 7 star Finalizer in a matter of days vs potentially years vastly outweighs the 10 shards a month - even over the course or years. If you spend crystals refreshing in the old way to get Finalizer quicker, how long would that take you in terms of 10 SSC a month to make those crystals back?
Now I have the Finalizer and Raddus fleet masteries in my events screen every single day with the final tier blocked. So, these now pollute my events screen every single day for no benefit at all. I got the worst of both worlds. Outstanding performance by CG.
