"EA" Launcher is just the most terrible launcher I have ever used
"EA" Launcher is just the most terrible launcher I have ever used (worst than Ubisoft). The worst part is that it was forced to me if I wanted to keep using the games I had on Origin. It's driving me nuts. Leave a comment/upvote to let the prog teams know.18KViews112likes64CommentsBug Report: Forced and Mandated Updates & EA App Behavior re: The Sims 4
REQUESTS FOR THE EA APP (Re: The Sims 4) I posted about this on many platforms, in many comment sections, and many, many people are having these same issues. The number of likes and upvotes indicates an even larger pool of shy, silent, or busy simmers suffering this, too. CORE REQUESTS * Updates to The Sims 4 game must be USER-INITIATED ONLY. * Updates must NEVER be automated, if the EA App restarts, it should do nothing to the game. No auto-updating of the the app or the game. * Updates must remain PERMANENTLY optional. The User should be able to stay on whatever game version they prefer and the game should still launch. * Suggestion: Game fixes to older versions need to be made available. * The EA App must not force updates. Ever, indefinitely. If a player chooses not to update for months, or even years; this must be a clear and fully supported option. THE CURRENT ISSUE: Since this summer, the EA App has been producing so-called “error popups” (several types, seemingly arbitrary, affecting even vanilla players) with increasing frequency. These currently: *Block players from opening The Sims 4 unless they go online in the EA App. *Rotate through random “errors” to push the user online in the EA App. *Once online in the EA App; trigger new “error popups” that specifically force a Sims 4 game update. PS; halting the update causes a new “error” that prevents the game opening, too; so you know that is not an option. I am finding these are not genuine errors; they are deliberate update triggers. While they may technically fall under the EA App team, they directly impact The Sims 4 experience and must be addressed in coordination. You claimed this was resolved 11 months ago. (It was not resolved). Also; EC:204 is only one of three possible popup error codes; none appear related to real system issues. Please eliminate these faux “errors.” This was not resolved by any new EA App version: discussions/ea-app-technical-issues-en/re-resolved---ea-app-error-code-ec204/7566081 SUMMARY You have made it so that updates have become unavoidable for what looks to be around half of the Sims 4 player base. For those subjected to forced updates: *Vanilla players are experiencing frequent game-breaking bugs and corrupted saves, even without For Rent installed. *Modded players; the majority of the community; see their carefully curated setups repeatedly destroyed, driving many players to abandon the game entirely. This summer it is MANY. Even those not using script mods, but only CC for CAS and Build/Buy playstyles. TLDR *Updates must be user-initiated only; never automatic; always optional; never forced. *The game must still launch if the user chooses not to update; even after months or years. *The “no auto-update” toggle is broken; replace it with a clear OPTIONAL UPDATE button. Make sure that update is truly optional. *Eliminate fake error messages that block the game from opening and funnel players into forced updates. *Players must be free to choose if and when they update; even if that is never. The game should still launch and run. *Add support to repair earlier game versions. Do this; and watch user complaints drop by half. Please coordinate between the EA App and Sims 4 teams. Thanks!Lenti110107 months agoSeasoned Traveler1.8KViews51likes21CommentsNo possibility to play offline
I don't know if this is just the beta version (cause of telemetry and stuff) but I want to make sure to give this feedback There NEEDS to be an option to go offline. That is currently not the case. Many games have offline modes and many people have bad Internet. Please Please Please, I beg you, have an offline mode in the full version.Solvedcrinrict5 years agoHero+57KViews32likes68CommentsKEEP EA IN OFFLINE MODE!!!
So I do not have internet access at home, and I used to play sims all day. Now I can't even play my sims, I'm just lucky to have hotspot on my phone to be able to at least start it up, which is limited. When I run out of GB for this month, I have no idea what I'm going to do... I'm so sad, and the reason I even got into the Sims was to be able to have an offline game I could immerse myself into for hours at a time. I DO PUT MY EA APP INTO OFFLINE MODE, but anytime I turn off the PC or have to reboot it, it requires internet connection to open EA therefore access to sims. So no internet connection? No sims ☹️ I honestly do not find the EA user friendly, if anything, IT IS AGAINST THE USER!11KViews26likes29CommentsWe need a shopping cart!
There is still no shopping cart! It would have been a very convenient option to have with the EA app since Origin didn't have it. I have one game pack and most of the kits to buy for TS4, but I really just don't want to buy each kit one by one... It's quite the inconvenience. Please add a shopping cart!Solvedrjssim3 years agoSeasoned Ace6.5KViews25likes24CommentsPop-up in Origin about EA app which can't be closed
Hi everyone. I have been playing Sims 3 through Origin for many years now, but today am having issues. When I open Origin I get a message pop up which says "The EA app is your new home for PC gaming. Now's the time to upgrade. Install the EA app and log in with your EA Account to find all your games waiting for you". As far as I can tell, there is no way of closing this message and so I can't launch/play any of my games in Origin. I have tried EA App twice now and do not want to use it as I had issues with it. I had issues downloading newly purchased games and some games would not launch at all. I will not use EA App if I can avoid it. Is there any way that I can minimise this message and continue using Origin for now?29KViews24likes90CommentsThe New EA App is The Worst Gaming App Ever
It amazes me that a company this influential and wealthy can develop an app that can prevent me from downloading games, viewing my game library, and launching my games. It is inexcusable. I didn't get around to actually writing this feedback down because I still had the option of using Origin, which wasn't the best gaming app, but it did its job. You could view your games, and launch them without issue. All of a sudden, they forced me to use their grotesque new EA App to play their games, but funny enough they couldn't get me to, because I CAN'T PLAY MY GAMES TO BEGIN WITH. I have tried every single troubleshoot fix on this forum, and yet none of them work. I have reinstalled the app several times, changed my game directory, changed my antivirus settings, changed my application launch settings, and I have even reinstalled Windows at least three times to see if it was just me. The worst part of it all is the feedback from the EA community team. The live chat service gives the absolute worst support, and the forum posts are almost never responded to, and if they are responded to, the support team will mark their "solutions" as accepted, when THEY DON'T WORK. It is absolutely deplorable what this company is doing.4.5KViews23likes16CommentsShutdown the EA App and go back to Origin
Shutdown the EA App and go back to Origin. The EA app is useless, doesn't work and is causing you to hemorrhage users because its locked us out of playing our paid for games. Filing support tickets are pointless they just get closed without a reply. Just shut it down, fire everyone who worked on the app, go back to Origin and pretend it never happened.2.7KViews23likes21CommentsMisleading switch from origin to ea app
Why push to move customers/gamers from a working program to a non working program? We have all paid alot of money of the years to play our games which currently is not working with new ea app. If it aint broken ... why fix it ? #1) You can't even control the installation directory, only the directory that games are installed to... are you [removed] SERIOUS EA!? #2) No launch command options such as using "+fps_max 144" and other useful launch commands for troubleshooting or performance tuning. Hello Community, I would like to provide some feedback about the EA Desktop Application. It would be nice to have the ability to filter, hide or completely remove games from your Library (EA Support or Self Service). The number one issue that I have noticed on all game launchers is the lack of an option to remove games, especially when they're demos, betas or just no longer available. I'm sure I'm not the only one who likes to see this stuff in their game library. I believe that EA Desktop should do something like this. It would be a missed opportunity if it didn't. Cheers, Beauzinga9.8KViews18likes99CommentsEA App Is A Complete Mess
Why are we still being forced to use the EA Desktop app if we have the gamepass? It's honestly the most poor excuse for an interface out there. One of the most simple features doesn't even work, being the Remember Me feature. I constantly have to log back in no matter how many times I click to save my name. Another fun new bug is since BF2042 released, I know have to uninstall and reinstall the EA App so my games will download updates, otherwise it just continuously force stops the updates instantly before even calculating the size. I've had this app for a about a half a year now, and I still can't put a desktop icon for any of the games; which also ties in to the fact that I can't play even single player games if I can't get online. It's kind of wild how EA is just openly getting away with releasing content that's not even half finished, and the response is always "it is what it is." This app is garbage. I don't get why EA is chilling on not one, but TWO horrible desktop apps. Absolutely wild.7.9KViews18likes5CommentsWhy does the EA app not have a Gift option?
I really miss the option to purchase games as a gift in EA App. It was in Origin earlier and it's a shame it's missing in EA App. It was so nice to receive and give games to friends. Is there a possibility to return it in EA App some day? CM edit: edited title for clarity.SolvedRialike1 year agoNew Scout9.9KViews16likes114CommentsEA Desktop can't repair downloaded game
I've downloaded Titanfall 2 tonight. Now I can't play because the game files are corrupted. I have to uninstall and download all the 48GB again because there isn't an option to check game files and repair it. Very disappointing, hope that it get this option soon or at least when out of beta.22KViews16likes29CommentsEA Desktop client custom installation folder
Please give users the ability to change the directory where EA Desktop installs its main client. I'm not refering to the installation directory of the games themselves, rather the EA Desktop application, as some users prefer to keep their System drives clear of any unnecessary programs (such as those who have their System drives on an M.2 drive), or prefer to install them on a separate HDD/SDD for better program/app management. Having the installer automatically proceed installing upon double-clicking without prompts also presents some security issues as well.Solved21KViews16likes36Comments
