Dead Space 3 (PC): false VM detection on Surface — VBS can't be disabled
Dead Space 3 (Steam, PC) refuses to launch on my machine with this error: "We're sorry, an error has occurred — This game will not run in a virtual environment. Please use your main Windows environment to play." The machine is physical hardware, not a virtual machine. System: - Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 (Secured-core PC) - Intel Core i7-1185G7 - Windows 11 Pro, build 10.0.26200.9457 - UEFI 33.108.143 - Windows Defender only, no third-party security software - No virtualization software installed The check appears to trigger on the mere presence of the Windows hypervisor, which Windows 11 runs by default for VBS (virtualization-based security). I tried every documented way to shut it down: - Disabled Core Isolation / Memory Integrity (confirmed HVCI stopped) - bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off - bcdedit /set vsmlaunchtype off - bcdedit /set {current} loadoptions DISABLE-LSA-ISO,DISABLE-VBS - Registry: EnableVirtualizationBasedSecurity = 0, Secure Launch (SystemGuard) = 0 - Verified Hyper-V, Virtual Machine Platform, Windows Hypervisor Platform, WSL, Windows Sandbox and Containers are all disabled After rebooting, HyperVisorPresent is still True and hvservice.sys is still running. Per Microsoft's own support answer on an identical Surface Pro case, Surface devices enable virtualization at the firmware level to support security features such as Memory Integrity, and this cannot be fully disabled by the user. Surface UEFI has no virtualization toggle at all. So there is no action available to me that makes this game launch. Could the detection be changed to identify an actual virtual machine rather than the presence of a hypervisor? VBS is enabled by default on Windows 11, and on Secured-core PCs it cannot be turned off — I expect more reports like this over time. Happy to provide an msinfo32 report if that helps.
Dead Space Remake BSOD
I've been having a recurring issue with Dead Space Remake where it eventually BSODs my entire PC. It only seems to happen with Dead Space and usually after playing for around 40 minutes. There's no specific area or action that seems to trigger it.. I can just leave Isaac standing in a room and after 40 min or so I'll come back to the PC crashed. I've tried a bunch of the the things others say to try already: updating NVIDIA drivers, clearing shader caches, disabling HDR, capping FPS at 60, verifying the game files, reinstall the game, and changing graphics settings. I've gotten two different BSODs: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (0x3B) and IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.Steam Deck isn't able to launch EA app/Dead Space 3
This is in regards to Dead Space 3. Have previously been able to co-op between my friend on the Steam Deck and myself on a Windows 11 PC. Now within the last few months the EA app is unable to launch on his steam deck. His files are verified on steam, and he tried an earlier version of Proton and Proton Experimental to no avail. I read online and some people have commented that an update to the EA app broke something for Steam Deck users. Would love to be able to continue the co-op :(
Dead Space 3 Origin/Steam Grey screen crash
Hey, i've been struggling to get Dead Space 3 to work on PC lately. It used to work for years on the exact same computer. any time there's a quick time event the game gets a gray screen then crashes a few seconds later. Both steam and Origin versions have same problem. I've tried windowed with vsync off, reinstalling, verifying files, reinstalling DX setup and vcredist manually. 10+ nvidia graphics updates later and still same issue.Dead Space 3 - Help Steam Achievements

As a result, it is currently impossible for players to complete the game 100%. Dead Space 3 Steam Achievements Not Unlocking Properly
Hello EA, I’d like to report an ongoing issue with several achievements in Dead Space 3: Survivalist, Aren’t You Thankful?, Pure Lunacy (DLC), and Supercharger (DLC). These appear to be unobtainable under normal conditions. This has been affecting players for quite some time now, and it prevents completionists from achieving 100% in the game. It would be great to get some clarification on whether a fix is planned. If fixing them isn’t possible, please consider removing these achievements, as was previously done with Brave New World. I have a microsoft surface book 2 I am trying to launch Dead Space 3 on but am receiving an error "This game will not run in a virtual environment". Most surface devices you are not able to disable virtualization extensions. I am confused though because I also have a desktop running with vt-d enabled and it launches the game just fine. I've gone through a gauntlet of items turning windows features on and off trying to figure out how to get past this error but to no avail. Am I missing something about Microsoft surface devices that causes them to get flagged in error? [Xbox One] Unable To Claim Dead Space 3 Online Pass From The In Game Store
So recently i wanted to play for the first time Dead Space 3 with my friend, and noticed that i need an add-on to be able to play Co-op with him, I checked the Xbox store and that specific content the isn't available same with Microsoft store, tried to access it from the menu of the game "downloadable content" and its giving me this specific message "Cannot retrieve information from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Please check your connection and try again." but noticed that my friend has access to this option and had no issues claiming the content (Online pass). Thanks in advance.
DS3. Why is the game telling me that Hardcore and Survival modes are completed?
Hi! I’ve now completed both modes, but the game was telling me they were completed even before that. And I never received the achievements for them. The game shows me a ticker with my friend’s kill statistics. Am I correct in understanding that this data is stored on a remote server, just like the data about completing various modes? Is there any way to reset it?" THX
