Looks like some new stations in the event. I'll need to rediscover how my three train layout works. Just joined a loop to make it a two train system but I'll need to rejoin a new open ended station to have three trains going in to my interchange station again.iain512695222 months agoRising Novice63Views3likes0Comments- 4junk30002 months agoNew Spectator101KViews0likes695Comments

End of the Springfield Showcase..
Looks like the of The Springfield Showcase. I've tried my best to keep this side of the forums alive over the years but looks like EA has decided to pull the plug on us. I hope you have all enjoyed the designs the community has uploaded here and its sad to see all the hard work we put together just disappear. I'm not sure if I'll continue on the new site but we'll see when the time comes. Thank you all so much for the effect you have put into this showcase on keeping it alive as it has been fun over the years :) And Boo urns to EA :#Castiel_Touk11 months agoSeasoned Newcomer111Views1like3CommentsWHYDW A Hard Play's Night Mini Event...

There's a few threads about this. A few people are doing it. I think it's an awesome idea. I molded mine after my own town, but if I was to ever spend any time on a second town, I'd do it this way. Looks great by the way. I like your double wide roads.311KViews1like550CommentsSome of 4j3k’s favorite designs
06/22/23 modifying this thread to include more of my favorite designs; many in mapstitched, extra large, full (playing level) scale images. * * * This is my Pirate Ship Exhibit. I decided to bring the pirate ship exhibit into my Fogburyport neighborhood. This required shifting my entire Beach Hut Resort 6 squares over, with some mild redesign since I only had 5 squares available at first. Here’s an aerial view of where the ship exhibit moved: And here’s an aerial view of the final design. This move allowed me to group the pirate themed items, and create a more unified looking pier transition to the Fogburyport Wharf. I also swapped the Palm Beach hotel so that the Hammock Hut Area now ties in with the Beach Hut resort Main entrance. I also added a direct access to the resort’s sun deck to the SquidPort Before: After: This design also eliminated a conflict with the largest version of the Beach Hut, which I wanted to display without its water slide and balloon concealing anything behind it.4junk30002 years agoNew Spectator707Views1like36Comments- Castiel_Touk2 years agoSeasoned Newcomer1.4KViews1like30Comments
What Have You Done With 3D?
Edit: With the switch to the new forum format, the first post in this thread was deleted. Also, the new Photobucket policy has blocked many images. I've tried to restore what I could. Where else to begin a thread on 3D than with @MelDesigner's skyscrapers? This was her first: http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3778/11043315063_2cbd5ff265_o.jpg But not her last: http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5534/10917626403_7dbed2e87b_o.jpg We've all seen our fair share of hedge hills, but have you seen anyone top this pyramid design by @jofre_nash? http://i57.tinypic.com/o8ifcg.png Customized drive-in theatres are almost a rite of passage. There are many great examples, but the recent purge makes finding them a bit tough. Nonetheless, I was able find this very early gem by @TotalTapper in gif form: http://i.imgur.com/c4Jscpl.gif @Mopurglar taught us how to do it in Krustyland: http://i.imgur.com/HQcFlWK.jpg18KViews1like72CommentsCheck out my Springfield replica!
Hey everyone! I've been playing TSTO since it was first released. Throughout the years, I've spent way more time on this game than I would like to admit. No doubt addicting! Although it has been tough since I hit my building limit years ago (and continue to do so to this day), I'm quite proud of what it has become. I just always tried to keep it as realistic as possible. I try to create distinct neighborhoods (residential, industrial, retail, etc.) separated by wide rivers. I provide each building with a lot, and provide parking, road access, walkways and landscaping for each lot. I stuck with this design plan since the beginning. Let me know what you think and if you have any questions. Also, feel free to add! I have way too many neighbors with random stuff all over the place and it drives me nuts! I may be a bit OCD.... SF Road Map!
while waiting for the new event, this time i kept busy making a realistic road map of my SF. Here it is: It's easier to see the details if you Open in a new window and then Magnify. I've illustrated color-coded land zoning; and icons for various Points of Interest including: God, nukes, and hidden treasure. The neighborhoods are indicated with white semi-transparent lettering. This was really fun to do! Maybe you will make one too? Post it when you're done! Happy tapping!4junk30002 years agoNew Spectator133Views1like1Comment- Castiel_Touk2 years agoSeasoned Newcomer375Views1like8Comments

KrustyLand Legacy Park Memorial
May 30, 2018 update: I'm opening my thread to everyone who'd like to preserve their original KL designs before EA's apocalypse takes them all away. Please post your legacy KL Mosaics here. Hopefully this thread won't also be nuked. My condolences for our loss, KL fans. Peace. http://i.ytimg.com/vi/SzLHU6S4oic/hqdefault.jpg . . . . . . . . March '17 update: This thread suffered the same fate as all others in the migration to this forum platform, and lost its original post. But here again are the original pictures from the thread: my KL (from back then)... http://i.imgur.com/GxSWXPZl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/GxSWXPZ.jpg (for super giant size: go to THIS picture, THEN click the magnifier) ...and the "Guide Map" I made for it: http://i.imgur.com/YiPvnRJl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/YiPvnRJ.jpg (for super giant size: go to THIS picture, THEN click the magnifier) Detail pics: http://imgur.com/0eJ1mi8l.jpg http://imgur.com/dw6x9kSl.jpg http://imgur.com/xykkRvCl.jpg The back story is simple: at the time, there was a lot of anti-KL attitude. Few had invested considerable design time to KL, and so I created a park to refute the naysayers suggesting it wasn't fun to design in KL. Just for fun, I then took it a step further; designing a map to try to stoke enthusiasm for the KL expansion. Which I think was successful, as many more players started posting their clever KLs, and requesting that EA add more KL features. The hype didn't last long, and since then the game has evolved to many other things, as it's a very forward-moving game. So I'm not necessarily surprised they haven't revisited it, just disappointed. But hopefully someday, EA will utilize the KL expansion module again. It's just got so much potential. If you haven't seen the real map of KL*, you've missed the dozens of rides we could get in the game. Crazy cool rides there. I recommend voicing your desire for this content to EA! * REAL MAP: http://i.imgur.com/j5Gghl.jpg4junk30002 years agoNew Spectator49KViews1like64Comments- Castiel_Touk2 years agoSeasoned Newcomer602Views0likes17Comments

WHYDW Treehouse of Horror XXXIII event...
Up and ready for your designs. I'm really looking forward to this one. :smiley:Castiel_Touk2 years agoSeasoned Newcomer611Views0likes14CommentsWhat Have You Done with Evergreen Terrace?
I checked the old posts, and I didn’t see an active thread for the area that we always see first when loading our games. I wanted to show off my Evergreen Terrace neighborhood to all of you. I was lucky enough to stumble upon a standard neighborhood block for the houses, three per row, which really helped me create a kind of “Pullman town” look. I added the nuclear plant to the design, and it’s close to both the elementary school and the retirement home. Finally, the gateway to the Springfield Heights area (through the mountains) is behind it, and it’s sort of fitting that the “Mt. Simpsons” sculpture overseas Evergreen Terrace, as well as the town.skollthewolf2 years agoRising Novice202Views1like1Comment- 72Views0likes0Comments
Do you have a recycling/salvage yard?
I have been wanting to build a big salvage yard for a long time. I finally figured out where in SF to build it, and now I'm really motivated to expand the surrounding area as a very rural, low income zone. So happy with this new design, I hope you like it too! Happy tappers are welcome to share your salvage yard designs here if you wish.4junk30002 years agoNew Spectator681Views1like13Comments- Castiel_Touk2 years agoSeasoned Newcomer821Views0likes6Comments

WHYDW Tragic Magic event?
Hopefully there’s nothing wrong with @Castiel_Touk who has been initiating these threads… …but here’s my designs from this excellent mini-event! The Magic Shop and Miss Opal’s have been added to my "ethnically diverse" part of town. This place has been on a side street in my Casino area, as a dinner theater attraction. Fortune machine has been placed on the SP near Moe’s Express. The teller’s table has been added to my "Flaming Guy" side show area. Let’s see YOUR event designs!4junk30002 years agoNew Spectator131Views0likes1CommentWhat have you done with Northward Bound and Black Friday event stuff...
Up and ready for all your designs.Castiel_Touk3 years agoSeasoned Newcomer1.3KViews0likes13Comments4j3k's 3-D page!
hi all! now that i've finally reached about 98% completion on my full town rebuild, i want to document some of my more complex designs, and share them with you! THIS page will be where i post all of my attempts at "forced 3-D perspective". Whether large or small, i think it's fun and challenging to place 2-dimensional objects in a way that tricks our eye into seeing something new which "stands up" as 3-D. To kick off this thread, here's my largest design; a ski resort neighborhood in a 3-peak mountain range that spans from Mt. Springfield to Pickle Mountain to the Palace on top of Mt. Useful. This ski resort area is in the center of the first range of mountains. It includes many cliffside homes along a winding road which starts at the Kat University, and goes to the top of Mt. Useful. Some fancy homes overlook the ski slopes, some newer condos look south toward downtown Springfield, some older homes and lodges are closer to the top, overlooking the lake in Cypress Creek. The ski resort area includes Krusty's lodge, which has a cable car to the peak at Mt. Useful. Meanwhile, the "secret lair" home of our local hero includes a Batman-style cave entrance through the mountains. It is hovered by its own "secret satellite". One of the features I had to include here, is the Heavenly Hills Mall in the background. This pays tribute to the episode where an "angel" was discovered, which rattled most of SF to fear the Rapture. They all climbed a cliffside overlook to see the angel was on the roof of the new mall being built in the distance. Katmandu U and the surrounding neighborhood has been designed to emulate upper-class college communities commonly found in US Rocky and Appalachian mountain ranges. I’ve used concrete walls to create terraced parking areas and elevated properties which appear stacked higher. Unusual, "space-age" homes on stilts, and cabin lodges are frequently built on cliffsides akin to Alpine regions. I’ve tried to make this rocky wooded area behind the radio tower appear STEEP. Valleys with stream-side fishing cabins are also common, so i've tried to build a sunken zone beyond the ski area to reflect that. Forced 3-D isn't easy to see when it's not your own design, especially when we cannot use shading/lighting to manipulate a sun's effect on geography. So I've created an image to help better illustrate which is the "high ground" of the mountain resort area, vs. "low ground" of Cypress Creek behind it, and the fishing valley to the right of the ski slopes. In this image, the low background has been faded about 80%. I've dyed the lake and river which feeds it BLACK so you can clearly see the mountain ridge standing in front of it. I've also dyed the roads which have an increase in grade and elevation, PINK. The winding road to the peak of Mt. Useful, the road around Burns' estate to Cypress Creek, and the "secret cave entrance" are all meant to have an increase in grade to go up through the mountains. i hope you can see what i was trying to create here; the river comes through a valley to the right of the ski slopes. It goes behind the mountain and is lined with Japanese maples as it flows into the lake. Several cliffside structures overlook the lake, including the mansion and hunting lodge. Cypress Creek's rehab center, golf community, senior residence, dog racing facilities, and HH Mall are all on the same low-elevation plain behind the mountains. Meanwhile, the highest points of the mountain range are literally "in the clouds"! Hopefully you can see the landing where the cable car appears it will dock as it arrives at the Palace. More to come, happy tapping!4junk30003 years agoNew Spectator262Views1like10Comments
