Re: Upgrades Discussion: TV Head Upgrades!
TV Head is just a filler and their drone causes serious issues with a game that already feels off compared to its predecessors and even other similar shooters. When the next shooter finally releases, I want to see things more like in the GW games, especially some characters like engineer that I strongly dislike in BfN after how much I enjoy them in the GW games, but one thing that we need to do is get rid of these two fillers, even if some of their ideas still exist in the new game in a less obnoxious form. No customizations, obnoxious drones, and just being boring ports of AI that break the normal formula of mostly melee swarm attackers vs. mostly ranged but immobile pots/bots and boosted by players and rarer AI, all combine to make them a pox on the game and we need to lose the AI and player versions of these characters! Never want to see them again. Let's go back to the AI hordes being mostly melee focused so the pots and bots aren't getting outranged by enemies that can actually move!
With that all being said, let's do this.
Stampede: While the idea of the swarm characters isn't actually bad, their bonus is too good in general, much less making it even better, even if the cap doesn't change.
Cathode Kaboom: This one I don't mind at all, in fact I like this idea, but after they added that very powerful punch ability to these 2 characters, it encourages them to use that thing all too often. Having a nice revenge ability like this definitely has appeal though.
Big Bite: And this makes your melee attack even better. For all it does on top of an attack that has no cost and can be used often, this thing is very good at 3 points, probably too good, especially in objective modes where melee combat is more likely.
No Fail Pail: While getting a bucket hat upgrade does call back to the original PvZ, which I highly approve of, getting 25 more health and giving the yeti imp 10 more health is extremely useful and worth the 4 points. I only have one build for this character as I don't enjoy them enough to make more, and no cosmetics beyond this one so no reason for other builds, and this is part of it. It really makes the imp drone, which is already a major problem, much worse.
Channel Blocker Stalker: Spotting in BfN is one of the areas in which I feel the game shines. This one is cheap as it's of limited use, but for the cost is fine.
Drop in the Bucket: Increasing the health of the bucket is fine, but I never realized it went from 30 to 125! That's a bit much, although I'd say the base health should be higher and make it something like 50/75 instead.
Zero Chill: Take an already fast suicide bomb and make it faster? This just magnifies an already annoying and powerful ability. Even worse when combined with the no fail pail, and you'd still have 1 upgrade point left!
Frost and Found: This I don't mind as the spotting system in BfN is solid, and generally you won't get too much use out of this since not many enemies survive the frosty explosion in the first place.
Dinner for Two: This upgrade makes the annoying knockback dinners even worse than they already and these and the wildflower's version of this are a big part as to why I dislike the AI TV Heads and Wildflowers so much. Three charges just means you'll encounter it more often. It's not that you can't have a knockback ability in a game, it's just having it come up so often makes it maddening.
