Re: Black Screen on Start (Xbox One Disc)

External Hard Drive:  I have a SanDisk USB drive I can plug in if that will work.  When I go to install it again, does Xbox ask where to install or is there something special I have to when I load the game again?

Restart:  I have chosen the "Restart Console" option and I have unplugged the device once off.  Those are the two options I have tried.

Cool. The restart console option performs a hard restart so that should be ok.

If that hard drive is formatted for your Xbox, try deleting the install from your internal drive and install it on the external one.

  • I was just looking at that.  I don't have a spare external drive that I can format for the XBox and is more than 125GB in size.  Since I have already uninstalled the game, I am trying a third re-install hoping that it work this time (the definition of insanity).

(Follow up:  third install did not work.  same thing:  can see the title screen, the menu items, etc but there is no game image once it starts)

Since you can navigate the menu, have you tried going into the visual settings and changing them?

You could try that. If you have HDR active, try disabling it as well. Also, I'm going to be leaving soon for the weekend. If what I suggested doesn't help, please try contacting @EAHelp through Twitter or open a case with a live support advisor here: https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/new/. You can also go to facebook.com/eahelphub to get in touch with support. They'll look into this for you. Thanks!

  • Thank you for the help.  I am chatting with one of the EA agents now but it appears we are just going to follow the script.

They'll probably take you through all the troubleshooting steps they can. It's a bit of an odd issue. I assume changing the resolution/HDR didn't help?

  • I checked and my TV is a 10+ YO LED and I could not find a way to lower the resolution from 1080p.  After jumping through the script hoops with the chat agent, I decided I would return the game.  Everything else works on that console including Battlefront II, Fortnite, Plants v Zombies, etc. so it has to be unique to the disc or game.  I appreciate the help.  If I decide to exchange, I will let you know if the new disc works.

Do you happen to have another TV you can try? Or another console? I'm not sure exchanging the game is going to help, but hopefully, it does. Let me know. Thanks!
