Re: Error code 201

For the last month, I am unable to stay connected to a multiplayer game in Battlefronts 1 and 2. I freeze for a few seconds and then I am kicked out of the game and given this code. I have had my internet provider out several times and all is good there. I called Xbox support, was on the phone for 90 mins troubleshooting and my Xbox is fine. So EA, please fix this issue. It is very disappointing paying a lot of money for these games and can not play.

Hello EA. The game is constantly freezing me and throwing it into the menu with error 201. I'm getting credits and all the rewards for the battle. Please correct bug 201.

How often do you get this error?  Every time until I made the changes noted here.  Of course no one should have to mess with their router configs to make something work.  I'm  a systems engineer so it is something I'm comfortable doing.

Do you get this error on a specific time per day? It was anytime, 24/7.

Going to add some additional info:  Occurred on my machine which is connected to my router directly as well as my son whom is connected via WiFi.  Tried both Wireless N, 2.4GHz and 5GHz and he would still get error 201.

Occurred on all maps and game modes.

Aside from video, sound and key mappings, all others are at their default at time or install.

When the game was initially released, I was getting error 327.  They stopped after the first update but that is when the error 201 began for us.

Very rarely could a round be finished without receiving the error.  Often times is would occur before a game could finish loading to begin play.

I tested with all devices on my home network disabled except for my machine and would still get the error.

In frustration one evening after the game failing to even load a game without the error, I decided to play Battlefield I.  I selected quick connect, map began to load and received an error 201 so apparently it is not isolated to Battlefront II but  it is synonymous with EA.  I have not looked at any Battlefield forums to research as in all honesty, I could not see the point.

System specs:  ASUS H170 Pro Gaming MOBO, Win10 Pro 64-bit, i7-7700K, 16GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 1070.  OS and drivers are all at latest rev.

@EA_Aticand others.  I finally got my constant errors with Error Codes 201 and 672 by adjusting my firewall.  I saw this solution buried in another thread and gave it a shot.  After a week of constant drops and the inability to play for more than 10 minutes at a time, I just completed a 90 minute session with zero problems.

Bottom line, ensure your firewall is not disrupting the connection.  My virus protection does not have a firewall (free version of Avast), but if yours does start there.  However, most of you (at least on PC) will probably have Windows Defender's firewall up.  Here are the steps I took:

For Windows 10 at least...

1. Open the start menu and begin typing 'firewall.'  The option that should come up will be 'Allow and app through Windows Firewall.'

2. Click on 'Change Settings'

3. Ensure that STAR WARS Battlefront II is on the approved list and that it's selected for both public and private.

4. Ensure Origin is also on the approved list and selected for both public and private.

5. If the items don't show up, you'll have to select 'Allow another app...' and then find the files for either/both SWBFII or/and Origin.

On my system, Origin wasn't an excepted program.  Once I set it and put both Origin and SWBFII on the list for both public and private, everything cleared up instantly.

Unfortunately, I can only vouch for this solution on a PC.  Hopefully @EA_Atic or others might be able to explore if this is the same issue with XBOX and PS4 and, if so, recommend how to adjust your router firewall.

I really hope this helps my fellow PC players and that it provides a potential course of attack for XBOX and PS4 brothers.

Hey guys, I've encountered the 201 error and after logging into my router and I opened up these ports I was able to load a map finally!

UDP: 3659, 9565, 9570, 9000-9999

TCP: 3569, 9946, 9988, 10000 - 29999, 42100-42200

Under UDP, you can just put the range from 9000-9999, which takes count for 9565 and 9570 to not run into overlapping issues.

@mpacovsky I'm telling people what worked for me, since I've had the same error show and I also included my details to let others relate. You sound very stubborn, please crawl out of your hole and go outside for once in your life.

And who is this god you speak of? Nvm... not worth the debate or time, because you are literally USELESS... you just add nonsense to the problem when I am trying to help those who could use it!

ISP : Charter Spectrum

Region: Louisiana, USA

Internet speed: 50mbps down/ 7mbps up

How often: Every 5 minutes in any game mode. It used to be about once an hour, but for the past day I can not finish any matches.

Specific times: None. I've tried at every hour of the night or day and it still happens just as frequently.

I've tried all fixes posted in this forum and nothing has worked. Adding Origin to the firewall's excluded list almost worked, as I was able to go a whole day (Friday) without seeing the 201 error once, but then it came back with a vengeance and now I cannot get through any game mode. I find it funny EA's been trying to about all these problems with turning in milestones, but I'd give up being able to turn in milestones, level up star cards, freaking everything just to be able finish a GA match reliably.

I know error code 201 is known. I'm just getting it a lot and people in matches aren't saying they have the same problem. I have limited my # of processes as much as possible. I still get crazy lag and multiple disconnects, usually right before the game ends, ensuring I don't get any of what I worked for in that match credits-wise and all that. I am on a laptop, Inspiron 15, 7000 series. It never lagged like this until the servers lagged, and now I'm wondering if I have malware or something I don't know how to uproot because the game almost always lags no matter what time of day or night I log in, and as I said at least once a day I get the boot from a match. Error 201. 

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm still getting it after the new patch. I know that patch didn't say anything about fixing it, but I figured if EA is making constant errors unintentionally maybe they could fix it unintentionally too. It'd be nice to get any news about this problem as I do really want to enjoy this game. I have a lot of fun in HvV with Iden until I get 201'd halfway through the match.

Is there any update/information you can give us yet? It's insane how long this problem has gone on and it's infuriating to get 80% of the way through a hard fought HvV or GA just to get yanked back to the menu. I'm trying to fight this problem because for some reason I'm stupid enough to like this game, but I don't know how much longer I can put up with it before I start arguing for a refund.

This has probably been suggested already (didn't read all the previous posts), but try changing your server region in the settings.

It should default to the lowest ping, but try changing it to another (close) region and see if the problem persists.  Probably won't help (and if it does, you might be trading the disconnect for more lag), but at least it would give some more info about the issue.
