SWTOR Launcher stuck at Installing 0%

Hello!

I have been searching all over the internet, but every solution I find is for old patches, the newest from June 2016, and I'm at loss right now.

It's going to be long, please forgive me.

I own two laptops. One, 7 years old VAIO, bought for gaming, so it should run SWTOR (it runs DA Inquisition) - let's call her Jana. I also own an Alienware 17, which I bought about half of a year ago, it has enhanced graphics, RAM memory and two discs - SSD for system and HDD for everything else (256GB and 1024GB respectively); let's call him Tony (or Alienware).

I have been playing SWTOR for last few days on Tony without any issues - installed the game, downloaded additional data (took a while, but okay), ran, created character, played. It was awesome, until today. I came back home, ran Tony; decided it's time to turn him off (I usually put him to sleep), so I restarted him and ran the launcher. And that's when the problems started. It was stuck at "Installing 100%" with a red bar. I thought that maybe it's something big to install, so I did my housework waiting, but after an hour I started to get impatient - I mean, it's stuck at 100%. That usually means the thing is done. I decided to close the launcher and reopen it. Did so, but it hasn't helped, so I looked for solution with help of Uncle Google.

Uncle Google told me to run Safe Mode with Network on Windows and try again. Did so, but it didn't help.

Google told me to uninstall and install the game again - did so. Guess what; didn't help.

I downloaded installer from the SWTOR website again as I deleted the older one, and ran it; it was fine in the beginning, but once it got to downloading the necessary data... This happened. (Attachment) And it happens since then.

Google also told me to download and install the Fix Launcher Utility; didn't help.

Also told me to try and run launcher on new user account, but that also did not help.

Okay, no worries - I was still thinking. I can try installing darn thing on Jana (the old laptop) and if it managed to download data, I can just copy the "ready" folder on Tony and voila! And believe me or not, it actually is downloading things on Jana. (Second attachment). I have no idea, though, why the launchers are different.

Somehow I get the feeling that the Jana copy is not going to run properly on Tony, though, so does anyone have any ideas what should I do? Because I am really running out of ideas here.

Please help.

TL;DR: I am trying to fresh-install the game, but can't, because the launcher is stuck at "0%".

Also I have no antivirus running except for Windows Defener, but it works fine with SWTOR.

EDIT: I have tried copying the game folder from Jana to Tony, but no progress.

  • I have not until now, and it worked. You, sir, are my god right now, thank you very much.

Apparently I did not think AVG could have cause this issue.

Also I'm sorry for this topic in this case, I really have no idea how come I did not find that solution, I used google, I searched many forums, must have missed it somehow. I'm really sorry.

    Thank you again.
