Please open Terminal and copy and paste the following command then hit Enter/Return:

find ~ -type d -name "*Mods*" 2>/dev/null

After a little while it will return the results of the search. Please copy and paste the results in a post here.

The first result shows that you have a Sims 4 folder containing the Mods folder in the correct location in Documents > Electronic Arts.

The second result shows you have another Electronic Arts folder in your Home folder. Is that where you have put the CC that isn’t showing up? To find it click on Macintosh HD in a Finder window, then Users, then your User account.

So the first folder I believe is my iCloud folder. That’s where I originally put my mods. It was iCloud Drive > documents > electronic arts > sims 4 > mods. When I put them in that folder it wasn’t showing up. 

however the second folder I believe is the local one. On the actual iMac and I believe that’s where it’s supposed to be as many people made the seams mistake I did and put mods in the iCloud folder. However the problem is that the second folder which is believed to be the correct one lacks a documents folder and I think that’s why my mkds aren’t showing. Instead of it being Makintosh HD  > USERS > magne (my name) > documents > electronic arts > sims 4 > mods … it instead goes Makintosh HD > users > magne then straight to electronic arts. There’s no documents folder.

Nope sorry, that’s not correct. The first folder is not in iCloud, it is locally stored on your Mac. This is where the game reads data from to load your save, mods etc.

The game will not read any data from the second folder. Move the Mods from the second Mods folder into the first one.

but I cannot find the first folder anywhere. That’s the annoying thing. The only documents I can see is the one in iCloud that’s why I thought it was iCloud. 

It is actually on iCloud Drive because I copy and pasted the first folder and it took me to my iCloud documents. It’s my iCloud. 

My available storage space is 200GB. This is a brand new iMac that I bought 2 days ago solely just to play the sims and I made sure I had lots of storage. 

however, I find that documents has this logo besides it. What does it means and how can I download it into my iCloud.

Wowww this is amazing. We’re definitely going in the right direction because before my mods wouldn’t even come up at the start up when playing the game and now it’s showing up under “scripted mods”. So the technique you showed me is working. 

however, when I actually play the game the mods do not show up during gameplay. Could this be because I need to unzip the folders in my kids folder ?

so I mainly get my mods from YouTube from content creators as they tend to leave a link under their videos. They have packages of up to 2,000 custom content and I thought this was the best way to download as it saves time rather than downloading individually   

also, what is the best way to unzip folders for iMac computer and how so I go about doing this please?

What is the built in software and once I download the unarchiver do I add it to my mods folder ?

so I’ve taken your advice and spent an hour solely familiarising myself with the imac and realised that there was no need for me to install the unarchiver as I already have something similar by default. 

ive managed to open all the zip folders in my mods folder but before I continue and transition over to the mods forum I had one last question as it is still technically technical related. After unzipping the mods downloaded folders, do I then need to delete the zipped Folders? and so the only thing that should be in the mods folder is the mods that have been extracted ?

Attached here shows the zipped mod (with a zip on it) and the blue folder is what comes as a result of you unzipping a mod. 

which do I keep and delete ?

Hi. I apologise for not making my question clear. 

it’s all already unzipped but I’m asking if I should delete the zipped folders as it could be the reason why mods are still not showing up in the game. In the electronic arts mod folder, all zipped mods are unzipped and I’m asking if I should then delete the zipped ones after unzipping them?

im not sure if that’s clear. 

When I double click the zipped file all it does is it keeps on extracting. You can’t actually open the zipped file anymore. 

is it ok to delete ? I feel like keeping the zipped files after already expanding them is what’s causing my mods to still not load onto the game. Do you agree ?
