Re: [BY DESIGN] Counters not lining up while placed against a wall

@EeveeTinn    Thanks for the extra clarification!  I did some testing and now I believe this is a design flaw that I never noticed before, since I normally don't create an L shape for counters into a room. I tested several different counters (Country Kitchen and a couple base game ones) and noticed the counters change when they touch a wall. They shrink just a bit and some counters add a backsplash.

The bumpout occurs even when using the auto placement feature.

If counters aren't touching a wall, they don't change.  It's the same for all counter shapes, not just the end pieces, like this regular "tile" piece.

It would be better if the counters were able to match the shape of the existing counters, especially when auto placement is turned on.  Hopefully the Sims team sees this and investigates the possibility.

In the meantime, I was able to use the Alt key (free placement) feature to get the configuration you're looking for.  It can be a bit tedious, but perhaps it's worth the effort if you want your counters to line up with each other?

@JonaO703 exactly, they shrink! I noticed that first yesterday, even though I build a lot - it just seems I never decided to build where I go from a wall to "non-wall", and therefore not noticing the difference. The counters slot to the wall to make them fit, but they shrink, and then if you want to continue the shape connection off the wall, the piece does not shrink.
I had to put a half wall for the counter to fit properly...

I tried moving the counters off the wall a bit, so they do not shrink, but the gap between the wall and the counter really bothers me hahah so I gave up on that idea.

@crinrict I don't see the images anymore of the OG poster, but saw some in the comments, it is the same. I did not report it as a bug though, but as a feedback 🙂 This being by design seems ridiculous to me hahah.

I cannot get it to be even with alt placement, not unless you move the counters from the wall so they do not shrink, and I dislike the gap between the wall and counters that way, as I think it is too big.

@EeveeTinn I'm going to merge your post then. As any bug reported deemed as design, this is in the feedback forum now (they used to be moved to General Discussion but now that we have a dedicated Feedback forum, I've moved this here)

@EeveeTinn   I know what you mean about the gap.  :-(   Adding a half wall is a great idea!  The backside of most cabinets isn't pretty to look at anyway.  lol
