Re: [XB1] Game Takes Too Long To Progress To Loading Screen

More information:

Xbox One console is Day One SKU (November 2013)

Tests:

- Sims 4 - installed on external HDD

Time from profile select on initial interactive screen to *Loading Screen*: 1 min 21 secs

Time from Loading Screen to main menu: 40 secs

Total: 2 mins 1 second*

- Sims 4 - installed on internal HDD

Time from profile select on initial interactive screen to *Loading Screen*: 1 min 7 secs

Time from Loading Screen to main menu: 40 secs

Total: 1 min 47 seconds*

- Sims 4 - installed on internal HDD - Console rebooted - No profile signed in

Time from profile select on initial interactive screen to *Loading Screen*: 2 min 2 secs

Time from Loading Screen to main menu: 44 secs

Total: 2 mins 46 seconds*

*note that, while these three times are radically different, there appears to be no actual correlation between variables and it is not uncommon for the game to load pretty fast as well. I've had instances where the game would progress to the first loading screen a few seconds after selecting the profile. However, times similar to these above tend to be the norm in most sessions (more than 70% of the time, I would say).

Once it gets to the loading screen, it's very consistent in getting to the main menu in about 40-45 seconds. So the issue is how long it hangs on the main title screen after selecting a profile.

Other games tested below (random games selected from my library, for each of these tests I signed my profile out before starting up the game)

- Aven Colony - installed on external HDD

Time from profile select on initial interactive screen to *Main Menu*: 8 seconds

- Battlefield 1 - installed on external HDD - Needs to connect to online service

Time from profile select on initial interactive screen to *Main Menu*: 25 seconds

- Cities Skylines: Xbox One Edition - installed on external HDD

Time from profile select on initial interactive screen to *Main Menu*: 15 seconds

- Fallout 4 - installed on external HDD

Time from profile select on initial interactive screen to *Main Menu*: 7 seconds

- Forza 6 - installed on external HDD

Time from profile select on initial interactive screen to *Main Menu*: 24 seconds

- Hitman - installed on external HDD - Needs to connect to online service

Time from profile select on initial interactive screen to *Main Menu*: 33 seconds

- Mass Effect: Andromeda - installed on external HDD

Time from profile select on initial interactive screen to *Main Menu*: 8 seconds

As you can see, while there is a big difference between the games, none of them take anywhere near as long to get to the main menu as The Sims 4.

Thank you very much for such a detailed test and post, @RealStyli. It's going to be very helpful for our QA team when looking into this! 🙂

  • No worries! It might only be an issue on the original Xbox One SKU, which I doubt many still have. I don't know if many Xbox One S or Xbox One X users are experiencing the same issue.
