I would definitely buy an expansion based on the original Sims that brought back some of the classic mechanics from the original game and its expansions (like the burglar, the paperboy, the genie, carpools), as well as some of its most iconic items and outfits, and obviously the neighborhood (at least the first area).
I know some things have been removed to adapt to contemporary sensibilities (no more mounted head trophies, bear rugs, caged birds, etc.), but most of it could be included without a problem.
In terms of timeline, it's very close to The Sims 4 (about 8 or 10 years, I think), so it would be interesting to see what happened to the old neighborhood.
