Thank You for your help. You have helped me A lot.
i don't get it
- Okay. I already know to do that. I still cannot see any custom content in my game. Help?
- Anonymous11 years ago
Make sure you are following the steps provided to install said custom content to ensure it functions properly. We can't really help much more than that, possibly the creator of the mod themselves might be of more assistance. The mod itself might not be compatible with the game anymore if it's come out before the latest patch. 🙂

i have the same problem. i cant get custom content into my Sims 4 game.
i have tried everything. even re-installed the game.
have resource file in mods
advanced box is ticked
removed winrar
placed the correct files in relevant folders.
no cc.
very annoying as cc is one of THE reasons i play the Sims
I have the exact same issue. I have all the files where they are supposed to be, they are all .package files, the advanced menu box is ticked, but I can see the CC in the game. I have a lot of CAS parts that I would love to use, mainly hair, but they are not working for some reason. Any help would be appreciated, please!
- Hey guys. I can upload a video to YouTube explaining how I figured out how to use Custom Content. There was one minuet detail I overlooked although I can't remember what and now I can use Custom Content all day

If you're copy / pasting them, then don't do that. Stop. Here's how it'll show up in the game:
.package files:
- When your custom content shows up in downloads, right click the file and select 'Cut'.
- Then go to the 'Mods' folder (Documents> Electronic Arts> The Sims 4> Mods).
- You'll see a file saying 'Resource.cfg' is already in it, but don't delete that! You need it for custom content to show up in your game.
- Then right click and select 'Paste', and your cc file is now in the game.
FOR .zip FILES:
- Right click on the zip file and select import. (My zip file looks like a purple book, a blue book and a green book tied together with a brown belt)
- After clicking import you'll get a mini screen saying 'Import to' and a list of places to import it. Import it too your desktop.
- Go to your desktop and there'll be a couple of .package files there.
- Right click the ones which you think are your cc and select 'cut' again.
- Paste them into the 'Mods' folder.
Hope this helped!
FOr me the RAR files just looked the same as package files, do they actually need to be unzipped?
Edit: Downloaded 7zip and tried to unzip the RAR file, it gave me no option to do so.Why can't you copy paste? I preffer to use this method so I can keep an extra file in my downloads section just in case. If the game really does delete your CC then that's all the more reason to want to keep an extra copy in my downloads file.

If you have the extension .rar you need to unzip them, if they have .package you don't
Can you please help me to? I can't download cc either, when I try to it downloads a minecraft or photoshop file with the name of the cc I downloaded. What is the problem? Please help me
Seems the file type has been used by a different program. Have you tried just placing them in the mods folder?
You can change the default program:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/18539/windows-7-change-default-programsBut it should work the same with the other programs attached.
- What do you mean that you don't need to open the package files? I'm confused.
But since it isn't working for me, when I go to downloads, the cc that I wanted to get is a light greyish colour and I can't cut it or anything. It's really stressing me out because I really want to try cc out but I just can't.

Hi!
Can you post a picture of what it looks like and we'll try to help you? I'm not sure that I'm entirely with you! :P sorry for the late reply :/

Oh, you have a Mac :P
It seems like your mod folder only has the Resource.cfg-file, no mods.
You need to move all your mods/cc (all files that end with .package) to the Mods-folder. You're not supposed to open them with anything, just move them. (copy and paste)Here are instructions on how to do it on a Mac: https://bluebellflora.com/itsaprilxds-how-to-install-mods-on-a-mac-guide-the-sim-4/
In the future, write technical questions on the Sims Mac board, for better help: https://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-Mac/bd-p/The-Sims-MacAlso a bigger chance that the solutions over there will work for you 🙂
I put the mods into the mods folder, but when i open the game it doesnt say anything. And there are no mods in the game or the little square that they appear in? Help please?
- jpkarlsen7 years agoHero (Retired)
In that case you are not putting them in the folder the game uses.
Here is an easy way to find out which folder your game is using: https://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/
me too. I accidently mixed up my mods files, sims 4 files and ea files and they are all copied. I tried to delete them and some deleted some didn't. I'm pretty sure my files are all organized now and I tried to download cc and it just didn't show up in the game.

could you post a screenshot of your mods folder (including the path) ? That's probably the easiest way to find out if they're in the right place.
My cc is in my mods folder like it should be, but when I open the game, it doesn't show up. I have the button clicked to allow cc in-game and I have tried multiple times to download different things and reinstall my game but nothing works. What do I do?
@crinrict wrote:The package files ? You don't need to open them. Just copy into your mods folder. If they are rar files you need to donload 7zip or winrar.
