I'm patiently waiting, not only for the fix (and confirming it is actually fixed) but also for buying the 2 newest Kits. No fix means no buying anything more from EA (Not a threat, just a fact.).
Quadruple checked, even.
I can pull back the curtain just a tad on this to let you know what all goes into releasing a fix for an issue like this.
Once an issue is identified (whether it's found by the game team or the community) an investigation is launched immediately to determine several factors:
- Can we reproduce this issue?
- Is this a mod conflict?
- How many people does this affect?
- Is this a new issue, or was it introduced previously but unnoticed?
- How many people do we need to pull from other tasks to devote to this?
Once we've established the above, resources are allocated all across EA to do things like:
- Inform our frontline game advisors of the issue along with any troubleshooting steps that could resolve it in the meantime.
- Inform the community through AHQ, Twitter, and our sister site Forums.TheSims.com of the issue through myself, TheSimsDirect or the SimGurus.
- Testing, testing and testing. Once a fix is identified, tested and approved we then have to get approval to release that fix from every platform we release The Sims 4 on, so it needs to be approved individually for the EA app, Origin for Mac, Apple, the Epic game store, Steam, Microsoft and Sony.
- Patch notes! Those are drafted, approved, finalized and then translated into the 13 languages we support online.
- Release the notes, the fix, and communicate wherever we've been having conversations about it that the issue has been resolved.
I'm not trying to make an excuse for timeframes, mostly just sharing how many moving parts their are behind the scenes that all want to get a resolution out as fast as possible.
Yes, I know you all have to go through all those steps. Seriously laughing that the ts4 team has to get permission to release stuff via their own stupid launchers. I remember the days when we could just double-click a shortcut to load a game and not have to put up with stupid unneeded launchers but I digress.
The thing is, many of us can't play with our sims messed up, we're storytellers and need our screenshots & stuff. We understand the bug fixing team can't just snap their fingers and fix a bug. Is it too much to ask for a time frame for when the fix will be released? (assuming it has been fixed) Like "sometime this week" or "it may not be till next week" because I've reached the point of sim withdrawal (disabled and have no life) that has me thinking that re-installing TS2 would be a good idea (which is a bit of a headache to get up & running these days). 🤒
