Did you try right click on the game and hit repair game ?
Not all elders die at the same time. If they are athletic for example, it can take a long time until they do.

Thanks, I ended up clicking repair for a completely different reason and it solved that problem. Hopefully my elders die soon, I really need space in their houses.
Do you by any chance know why sims will just be impartial to everyone no matter how high the friend bar is?
That is a new bug, courtesy of the latest patch.
