Re: Unable to go online ... No internet connection

The three plumbobs IS accessing Origin, the store to be exact. That mean it is connecting to EA servers, the same servers the Gallery needs to use. If you are not willing ot work through the troubleshooting steps, I'm sorry but we're not going to be able to help you get the Gallery or Store working in game. See attached screenshot.

@DarkAmaranth1966 You know you seem not to be getting my problem. It is not that I am unwilling to try your suggestions. It is that I know they are not the solution.

    Basic Connection Troubleshooting

Check Router - When Origin can download updates OUTSIDE the game, then Origin itself can connect to the internet.

Check Wireless or Wired Connection - Same as the Check Router, when Origin can download updates OUTSIDE the game, then Origin itself can connect to the internet.

Check Firewall & Antivirus - DIsabled both, Sims 4 INSIDE the game still is unable to go online.

Enable UNP & Enable Nat - This I have not done and don't see a reason for. Why should I have to enable it now, when everything worked before the update? My settings didn't change.

I have included two screenshots taken from INSIDE the game. You can see what I am getting here.

BTW I checked UPNP and it is Enabled. So I pretty much exhausted everything in the Basic Connection Troubleshoot

Yes and, I can make my game do just that simply by putting Origin in offline mode. Even when you can log in and see your games in Origin, other parts of it may not be able to connect properly. It has to connect to several different resources to be fully functional in and out of game.

If removing the mods didn't work, connection troubleshooting is all that we can do.

Since finally getting Origin to work again (remember the problems I had with it wanting me to update to Win7) I have not put Origin in offline mode. In fact as stated it wanted to download earlier today an update for Dragon Age: Origins. So the problem doesn't appear to lie with a connection issue at all as Origin itself is in online mode and can download updates. What I might do is force it into offline mode and then reboot it back into online mode and see what happens.

Edit: No joy on the switching back and forth between offline and online modes.

Though I do seem to have a separate problem with Origin though. When I close Sims 4 out, the Play button remains greyed out and I am unable to launch Sims 4 again, I have to close out Origin and then restart it before it will let me launch Sims 4 again.

BTW I am going to have to wait to try and fix the connection problem, assuming there isn't a fix before then, tomorrow. I have to be at work shortly.

@aphantasm72 Not allowing play without exiting sounds like an install or cache problem. That isn't normal, even for a badly behaved Origin.

Let's clear the Origin Cache first. Exit Origin Completely, then open your task manager and end any Origin processes you see in there. (should only be one). Now Clear your Origin Cache Files.

Run CCleaner to clear your browsers and, again to clean your registry.

Reboot your computer, Run Origin as Administrator. Log in using your email address, not username, just to make it faster and easier for Origin to find your data on the servers again.

    See if that helps.

If it doesn't you'll have to try manually uninstalling Origin and installing it again form a fresh download of the client.

I seem to have gotten the ability to press play again after closing the game. But I still have the problem of being unable to go online when clicking either 3 Plumbobs or the Community tab in the Gallery. I had hoped by now an EA rep would have responded to this, much like they did when we were having trouble after their forced update to Origin 10. But I guess I will have to open a new support ticket.

Edit: Was wrong about the Play button not staying grayed out after closing Sims 4. While trying to resolve my original problem. I noticed it is still staying grayed out. But I also have noticed something. It doesn't do it all the time. It's not that big of a deal really. Once I install that new HD and Win7 that hopefully might fix that. Right now though, exiting Origin and restarting it later is a good work around. I'm more worried about my original problem at the moment since it strips functionality from the game.

    Hi all,

Since this thread hasn't been updated in several years I went ahead and locked it to prevent further necro-posting. If you need some help with an issue like this please feel free to post a new thread, and we can take a look.

    Thank you!
