Re: non-gaming laptop recs for sims 4

@ncbeela  There are actually plenty of options in your price range with most of what you're looking for.  The one issue is battery life: laptops in this category almost never have a sizable battery.  The ones that last longer do so because the internal hardware uses relatively little energy, and it does so because it's relatively weak, and as a practical matter, too weak to run Sims 4 well.  So that's the one compromise you may need to make.

Here are a few examples of good lightweight laptops that should run Sims 4, all packs included, on high graphics settings.  The relative performance of all of these in Sims 4 at least should be within a few percentage points, so you can choose based on the other details without worrying about how your gameplay will be impacted.

The second and fourth are lighter, although the first and third are still reasonably light.  The first and fourth have better screens than the others.  The second one has only 256 GB storage, which should be fine for Sims 4 and basic schoolwork.  But if you're thinking of storing large files on the laptop, whether for school or something else, you're better off getting a model with 512 GB.

The screen size may also matter to you: a 15" screen is nicer to look at, but it also makes the laptop physically larger and usually a bit heavier, as you can see.  If you're not sure which size works best for you, it's a good idea to go to a physical store and look at the offerings.

I could have listed a number of other models with similar specs; these are just the best I found in terms of price and other details (screen type, battery, etc.).  If you'd like to do some shopping yourself, look for similar hardware, specifically the processor: the CPU and its integrated graphics chip determine how well a given laptop in this range will run Sims 4.  Any processor in this family—Intel 11th-gen i5 or i7, AMD 5th-gen Ryzen 5 or 7—will have very similar performance to the ones above.

If you have more questions, please feel free to ask.

Hi! Can you make US links to these laptops? Or maybe an updated version of recommendations with US links? I can’t find any these by the links you left ☹️

Don't "necropost." Reviving, updating or bumping old, outdated and irrelevant threads is not helpful for our community. It's best to check when the thread was created before you hit post, just to make sure it's not 2 years old for example.
