Re: My Sims 4 won't download onto my micro-SD card

@gamersnail369  The SD card might be defective, the adapter might be defective, or the EA App might not like SD cards.  I'd suggest trying to install Sims 4 onto a USB stick or an external drive if possible.  These have much faster read and write speeds than SD cards; how much faster will depend on the type of drive or USB stick as well as other factors, but you'll definitely see better performance than on any kind of SD card.

@gamersnail369  It's not difficult to manufacture a decent-quality USB stick, so you don't need to overthink things.  Just make sure it has enough storage—128 GB is okay, but 256 is not much more expensive—and that it's at least USB 3.0, as opposed to 2.0.  Then get something from a name brand, not a knockoff you've never heard of.  For example:

    https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sandisk-ultra-256gb-usb-3-0-flash-drive-black/9208267.p?skuId=9208267

Finally, check your laptop's manual to make sure you have a compatible port.  I would expect the laptop to have a USB type A port, but it's better to make sure before you spend any money.

On the product page linked above, if you expand the Specifications section, you'll see it's USB type A right below the capacity, and USB 3.0 is a few lines down from there.

  • That's a great answer, but the real problem is that EA's bloatware is so broken that it can't install anything on a drive that's not formatted as NTFS. Most cards are formatted in exFAT, and no other platform that I know of has problems with that.
