- @Lord_Scorpion34 I assume you are seeing packet loss? I had a few days of that like 4 or 5 weeks ago. I never did figure out why. I'm wired. I'd never play a game like this wireless myself.
- @hayhor 0 packet loss! That's the irritating part! You'd think I should be smooth sailing but no lol.
- @Lord_Scorpion34 That is really weird. I'm taking in game in the performance display too, not the server picking screen.
- GRiPSViGiL5 years agoSeasoned Ace@Lord_Scorpion34 Fact is games doesn't eat up enough bandwidth that there will be problems even over wifi in your home. About the only thing that will cause issues in the home is buffer bloat. If you have newish networking hardware and prioritize gaming traffic then you should be fine. After that it comes down to your ISP routing to the game servers.
You ISP usually hands off to backbone carriers who then route you to the local carriers on the other side, if any, then to the game server infrastructure.
In theory there is a lot to go wrong and it is almost impossible for to get it looked at as an ISP customer. Backbone carriers are often run on skeleton crews and the 3 plus different companies involved in TSing these issues properly is tough to coordinate. I have been through it professionally as a Datacenter Engineer and as an ISP customer at home.
In any case if you open that can of worms you are in for a very time consuming frustrating time. - @hayhor How do I look at my performance in game. All I have to go on is the red connection icons that pop up during the "glitches".
- E9ine_AC5 years agoHero+@Lord_Scorpion34 In your gameplay options in the settings will have a performance UI placement that will show the stats. From ms latency and more.
@Lord_Scorpion34Yeah what E9 said. Go to options and find performance display. Turn it on and it will give actual numbers instead of the icons. I can almost bet you'll notice packet loss counting up with the speed up stuff happens.
Yes, it's well established that Respawn had comparitively awful servers.
One thing Respawn at least does is let you know whether the problem is on your end or theirs. You don't have to wonder, or if you are wondering, look up what the red symbols mean when they appear as they appear when you lag out.
So much rubber-banding tho. I can only think this is what you get when EA min maxes their server loads with some idiot made agenda for cost versus money raking. Battle Royal games mostly suffer from this incest level intelligence, you don't notice it, however, in the top tier game of Fortnite because they are so flush with cash they don't even care to just take on as many servers as they need. Warzone is just well run, and it always has been, so that's another exception rather than the rule.Apex isn't as bad as a dead game either. But I think 'Competitive' gaming is just marketing for suckers. All games and game modes of pvp are competitive, but there's supposed to be some 'special' mode where you take the game 'more seriously' and that's the way of every commercial video game product released now adays.
Pure bunk.
If you want real competition mode, you get on a pro-circuit. And otherwise, you put up with dog trash servers for most games. Or you just go play Fortnite and Warzone. Truthfully, for connectivity, if that is your biggest concern they are way better, and probably always will be. But Apex does have certain things going for it. just not servers.
- @KelRiever I have as many connection issues in one 3 hour session of warzone than I do in 20 hours of apex. And this is with playing apex on another continents servers for half that time whereas warzone is local.
@hayhor Well, you know, everybody's situation is different too. TBH I won't defend Warzone too much, but I also want to say they punch over their weight as a game. And, I think it's pretty clear from volume of complaints that Apex has bad servers. Also, again, Apex does give you a good idea of when it is them, and when it is you. Warzone doesn't.
Obviously, with all its warts, I'm still playing Apex as my game of choice. I think Fortnite is okay, and does many, many things correctly. I approve of Warzone. But I play Apex, even though it has terrible servers and even though I will leave games without shame (YOU KNOW ME HAYHOR, YOU KNOW ME!) :D
- E9ine_AC5 years agoHero+@KelRiever You also are comparing a company of 15+ years of building FPS shooters with more then triple the work staff apex has. Comparing games to another just wont do any good. All operate and do things differently. All have xxx amount staff while the other has xx amount. But comparing a game company who has a lot more staff and well over 15 years in experience in this field is not a good way to go about things imo.
- @E9ine_AC Thankss for that info.
