Re: Perfect Teammate Match & Finding System

@l_mRGogo There is quite a easy solution and fix for this concern. Play with friends. If you are in ranked and you are not playing with a pre made then you get what comes to you in terms of good or bad teammates. To avoid bad teammates you simply play with 2 others. The game is now going on 3 years old there just is no way people in this time frame have not made friends with people to play with.

I often see people blame their randoms for stuff when in reality they put themselves in that situation to start with by solo queueing then want to blame the game. Easy ways to avoid it are ignored. Ranked is the most important game mode in the game when it comes to team gameplay coordination and strategies. So going in solo you will not have a great experience that will ever meet your expectations.

You are not an EA employee and acknowledge that the SBMM system is not working properly. If you think the topic is correct, I expect your support, not your advice.

@l_mRGogo I deal with SBMM more than a lot of people. I understand how it works with 5k+ hours into apex it self. I live on this game and when i do not like how sbmm is working for me i invite people. I do not blame the game i blame myself for solo queueing. I have went to pred solo queue imagine the torture with that. It was rough but i put myself through that horror.

Thanks for saying SBMM is bad and supporting the issue. What you choose to do is irrelevant.

Finding your own solution to a faulty system by playing not solo or not use SBMM system shows EA's inability.

  • from most recent EA ranked blogs, diamond players in BR are like 6 %. Bear in mind that they stopped doing the rank distribution chart since last season if I remember correctly. So this data is from season 7-8. Just search 'apex ranked season 8/9' and there should be a link to official EA site

Great answer and a great solution to the problem in lieu of any other changes that I will not hold my breath waiting for.

@l_mRGogo I mean its a highly dependent game on team game play. You will not get that with solo queueing. So I can say SBMM is rough but can it be better just by player actions? Yes. They simply invite people and never worry about being given under ranked players or players of lesser skill levels. Its not so much the games fault. If anything its a 50/50 issue. On one hand sbmm can not be altered by us. On the other hand we can avoid bad sbmm match ups by inviting people and never worrying about it.

    😃 😃 😃 😃 LOL 😃 😃 😃

like this You buy a car, it has automatic windows. However, it doesn't work. The solution is open the door.
It may have been a bad example. But I tried to give an example of absurd solutions.

If you want to avoid the problem completely, you can not play at all.🙌

Anyway, back to the topic, thanks for supporting the SBMM not working properly. So how would SBMM be better? How would you like it to be?

  • @l_mRGogo It was from my memory, but here is is the Link

Search term is 'apex legends season _' and then click on ea.com site that appears. There is no data for season 9 onwards so keep that in mind

@l_mRGogo Let's be honest here no matter what changes could be made there would still be upset players saying its broken. It is a system I would not want to touch personally because it will never be right by the majority of the solo queue population. I say this as someone who solo queues a bit. It would be a hard job I feel personally.

You said "from most recent EA ranked blogs, diamond players in BR are like 6 %. Bear in mind that they stopped doing the rank distribution chart since last season if I remember correctly."

I didn't see anything like that in your url. I may have a mistake.

    @l_mRGogo

Naw driving with the door open is bad. just break the window. 🙂

On the other hand I play Arenas mostly solo. it can be not so fun due to MM and as others have mentioned it could all be mostly player base driven for this mode, times of day etc. So for a quick fix teaming up would fix half the problem. Not a long term solution though.

For Pubs and Ranked trios playing with friends is a viable solution. I play with both friends and solo que. when I play with friends we have hard but good matches. when I solo que it is either feast or famine but rarely that balanced good game. Since the game is created as a team based game maybe playing solo que is not the best for everyone so maybe find that one to two friends acquaintances and play with them in order to alleviate the bad teammate aspect of the game.

We are not asking about the hard or the easy part. We say SBMM is not working properly. You say that it won't get better anyway, let's not touch it. It's like saying something, we're going to die one day so let's not live.

Thanks for the advice. But I'm not looking for advice. There is a problem, I am expressing it and I am waiting for support. It's funny to act like it's okay.

@l_mRGogo No I pretty much gave up because if the answer does not match yours then it is wrong. I personally in ranked solo get some cracked players who eventually end up on the friends list to play with. Other games i get not so great players its the roll of the dice. Every friend i have on my friends list i met as a random. We either played well together or one of us rolled the other one and was impressed. So if sbmm is upsetting me i got a load of people i can invite to never even worry about it. This is the concept that has not had an answer given for it yet. How can you avoid the sbmm issues that you say are there? Is there no way to avoid it? Or is there ways to never have to worry about it? Thats the question being avoided.

I support your cause to have the SBMM improved. My suggestions have been posted in the thread.

Advice will always be given to go with suggestions.

  • It's not the first sbmm post and it won't be the last, I have seen posts come and go. What you should care about is yourself, is it worth making posts over and over for a morsel of hope? It's been almost 3 years, Solo-queue will always be like that in this game or any other multiplayer game. Nothing will change that.

As for my experience, I have about 2000 hrs plus in Solo-queue which is majority of my playtime.

I'm genuinely curious if there's a single game where the MM is almost flawless or does its job incredibly. I've played some of the biggest MP games out there like DOTA and Overwatch where there are also MM problems. In my opinion, it can be improved but having bad teammates is unavoidable. It's just that people have different game styles. Some people in the forums suggested to have "Playstyle preference" when being matched which won't go well since you can be sweaty at the beginning then just hold out a single spot during the late rounds of the game. Matchmaking will always be a complicated topic.

edit: I was playing Fall Guys the other day and people were doing tricks that I didn't know were even possible. I guess the MM isn't perfect in this game as well. Still a fun casual game though. Bought it on switch too.

@Cheese9Man That's really the hard part tho. There is no simple solution to this. Game makers have all of the data that shows how they can keep people playing their game and spending. It seems they've all decided full random MM doesn't work anymore. Apex keeps growing so they must be doing something right.

@hayhor I agree that the MM is not an easy feat to master for the Devs and that there will always be some problems. Nothing is perfect. With that said I EA/Respawn have the data and I think they are constantly trying to make it better as a whole and as players there are ways we can mitigate some of the MM randomness by how and who we play with.

The car analogy brightened my day also. I almost fell out of my chair laughing at it and myself.

@E9ine_ACjust FYI - played season 11 daily for 4+h each day (maybe skipped one or two) only via people from Discord (EU and NA region) + posted on reddit that I am looking for teammates, plus signed up here in forums in threads where people were looking for a squad.

    Current results:
    - added like 10 people per day in my discord banlist <- not kidding man, maybe even more
    - had a great chat with 5 people who came via reddit or forums or discord directly to team up, agreed on multiple game related stuff like let's not be afraid to lose some RP and see it as an investment in the team, analyze made mistakes, talk it over, remain humans even during arguments...2 weeks later all 5 are in my banlist as they either ragequitted or came to be total a$$oles

Playing with friends is easy if you have friends who play Apex but in reality, most of the people don't - 2 days ago even played with a freaking military soldier who said that they have a room dedicated for gaming and they play there together for limited hours and even him - damn military regime product - did not play with his comrades :D just to show how theory differs from reality.

    end of rant 🙂

@Cheese9Man there used to be a way called pickup, that was the best SBMM yet manual and you had to know people you are playing with not to randomly pick, yet stats were available, community was open, selected few had server admin rights... so yeah there is at least one SBMM that works well every time 🙂

Can it be implemented in Apex... lol sure not 🙂
  • @hayhor google fraud of Nicola truck company or any other = the fact that something is attracting people, attention, resources can't be an indication that someone is doing something right...except maybe misleading people 🙂

Otherwise, this argument sounds like the one we hear probably daily - one how was the most KP and/or damage is right, rest are just brainless monkies and should remain silenced.

Irrelevant to the thread but just wanted to point this out.
