Re: Game Crashes on Loading Startup screen

@DetonatorPaoWell wouldn't you know it, you figured out my problem I use AutoHotKey to swap command and ctrl keys to mac layout since I use both systems with the same KBM. I quit AutoHotKey, and booted no issue.

A few things:

  • such an annoying failure by apex. I had this issue before when I played Hunt: Showdown, but it would explicitly say something like "scripts detected" or "cheats detected". They had the decency to give you some error message to figure it out. I have AHK boot on startup, and I never think about it. It didn't even cross my mind that this would be a problem.
  • No updates on Easy anti cheat or apex noting this change that i'm aware of.
  • apex would boot to different points, but never make it to the main screen. It would hiccup at different points before fully crashing, so it seemed like it was a game/files/graphics driver/install problem, even though it wasn't.

I haven't played for like a week because of this, so maybe that's a positive. Agree though, as a software dev, hiding an error or any type of error message is such a bad practice. Especially when you have horrid customer support like Apex.

Closing AutoHotKey worked for me too.

I also use AHK to automate keyboard shortcuts and volume control, it auto starts and I never think about it. It would be nice if there was an error message or something that popped up so we know what was causing the issue. On a similar note, a few times in the last couple months EAC has shutdown my game and told me that Fan Control triggered the anti cheat. Maybe something for the devs to look at as well...
