Hi @Popa2caps Sorry to be a downer but, given the age of BF4, I don't think something like this is likely to happen.Indeed @ElliotLH ,
This is NOT going to happen ever.
For the simple fact that the client side software/code environment has been long gone and removed from the developers. (the BF4 server side is still kept on life support, as the platforms e.g. MSFT and SONY have certain demands to the game owners to stay up to date with specific requirements regarding the console platforms and the security details). So even if there were some kind of miracle goodwill happening, there is no way to reestablish the developer kit required to add/edit any of the client side code segments, for you to be able to compile and make new builds to release of it. Mind you, such endeavor would also require to include the full developer kit, including the Frostbite engine in that very specific version it was in those 10 years ago. So a full snapshot of the full developer environment and code library eco system would have to be reestablished. And don't even know how few developers might still be around who knew and worked with it that many years ago, so it would be a massive undertaking to do such incremental updating of the old code.
So all in all, it would matter of fact, be easier and much more robust to make a complete new build of BF4 from scratch.
And yes, sure there would be a huge fanbase ready to welcome such a remastering!

Hello and thanks for commenting.
I'm totally down for a remake of Battlefield 4, but with how poorly Portal is as a representation of previous titles, I don't believe EA has the ability to remake Battlefield 4 correctly (my opinion).
That's sort of why I wanted a remaster over a remake as I think the current teams at EA would ruin the core experience that Battlefield 4 currently offers, like Battlefield Portal currently does by not recreating the core experience of the titles it's trying to emulate i.e Battlefield Bad Company, 3 etc.
Basically just the PC version of the game re-released on console would be sweet and I'll wait hoping. Great points you make there @Popa2caps!
The portal gaming experience is indeed a superb window of observations why potentially also the core game of BF2042 is still in a painful state. As e.g. the BF3 and BFBC2 games I am very familiar with in their originals are far away for providing the same depths and fun in the BF2042 Portal versions.
Think we here have to point towards the Frostbite engine which these days probably is beyond its peak in many respects. Also because its the same baseline engine that EA started to utilize also across other game genres, which not all are actually in the same fields of dynamics, mechanical constructs and motions.
So over the years it has now become a patchwork of very different add-ons and compromises for it still to somehow serve various game mechanics like BF, FIFA, Need for Speed, Madden NFL and Plants vs Zombies. So again a lot of compromises vs getting it really optimally tuned for the specific game genre demands for like Battlefield.
Also for the classic games we have now in the Portal, think about all the true and real love that the developers put into the originals back when they were made! The maps took many many months just to make one of them. The sounds and lightnings went through detailed individual designs. The weapons and vehicles all were cared for down to the tiniest detail and their related game mechanics with damage effect, ranges, bullet speed, drop over range, ttk, etc all got massaged to perfection during their many many months of live gaming cycles. All while what we got here now in the BF2042 Portal is the maps, vehicles and weapons, but all thrown into the deep with no properly finetuning of their parameters. And all having to rely on that the latest version of the Frostbite engine still will support them straight out of the box by using somewhat similar baseline parameters as 10-15 years ago. And that is obviously not working so well as it could have, as the core game of BF2042 have so far drawn most of the HC capacity at EA/DICE required to do the required adjustments in agile fashion right in the first days and weeks after the game launched to the market.
Too few resources available, spread too thin to handle too many widespread issues across the full specter of the BF2042 game package...
Personally I had faint hopes for that even if the core of BF2042 would be a disaster then I could still have some long-lasting fun with the classic BF games in the Portal. But like you, its not really up to it unfortunately. I so wish it was, but it's not. So personally I am now back in Legacy BF4 and having a blast.

Yeah I agree with you.
I understand very well the difference subtle changes can make in the grand scheme of things because I deal with it daily in mixing audio. A subtle change can have huge implications that change the core experience. I noticed changes straight away in Battlefield Portal the day it released and never looked back.
1. Rockets don't shoot-through obstacles like fences (makes a lot of wasted shots).
2. Helicopters' movements feel off, like they take off too quickly.
3. Can't pick up someone's class after a kill, but just the weapon.
4. Auto red nameplate pop-up (totally ruins the recon class).
5. Animations are different.
6. No suppression (support class was fun because of it).
7. Tanks locked aim speed.
8. Can't build the same loadout as the original games. These changes by themselves don't seem like much on paper, but they each played a role. It's possible the developers that worked on these aspects never played the games they're trying to reproduce, so that's another possibility.
Honestly if Battlefield 2042 had unlocked vehicle aiming speed, suppression, no auto nameplate, ability to pick up someones class after death the game would do much better, even though it has Tornados LOL
Currently the only title I'm waiting on is The Finals and I hope it's good. I need a good shooter.
