@Player55120hz yes, 4K yes. 8K probably not.
@carsono311, thank you for answering my question, it's very much appreciated!

Hi @carsono311 ,
When/where did EA promise that we would have 120 fps on our new gen consoles please now when playing BF2042?
It would be so super cool if the case, as when first tried playing some gaming on the 120 its hard to go back.

8K is just another monitor resolution and I think 8K support will probably be in the game (on PC at least). But in reality it will need a not yet released GPU to run acceptable.
Just like many existing games, they can already run 8K, but still existing GPUs are not really up for that.
8K support on consoles is a marketing thing more than a realistic option.
Even 4K gaming is a struggle for most GPUs, 8K is way more demanding. And things like DLSS and FSR will probably not be enough to run at 8K, with acceptable FPS and graphic fidelity.
I only saw 60fps + but not 120fps😕

Yeah me too @TuiskuSuomaa ,
But @carsono311 's link to a Xbox page does quote the 120 FPS, which is a big surprise to me, as haven't seen/heard EA representatives themselves yet commit to this. Only the 60 FPS. And the PS5 world also only refer to the 60 FPS spec.
Yes, both the Xbox X/S and the PS5 can run in 120 FPS mode, but if the game is not designed for it and utilizing it, then it doesnt matter because your frame rates will not improve above the aka 60 FPS then. Its a bit like the resolution on your screen. If a photo is taken with an old camera at 800x480 pixels, then that is what is being shown on your screen, even if you have a 4k screen..
Now Xbox has been promoted as 'partner' by EA for the Battlefield franchise, so maybe that is giving them a headstart on something. But would be interested to see EA come out with their clear specs for all their supported platforms, including PS5 and PCs. Its miserable that we are getting so close to launch and they have still not done so.
- @Player55 hate to burst your bubble mate, but with the limitations of current consoles with a map of 128 players you would have to choose between frame rate or good video quality. maybe if they kept the 64 player maps and same size it would be possible, but dice decided to make the maps bigger. it could be possible on TDM though
you might get 8k and 120fps support, but there's no chance you'll be playing it at that. Lucky if you get 100 fps at 1080p 😛

@Player55It is confirmed there will not be 120hz support for consoles on launch:

It was mentioned it might be incorporated at a later date. How about merging these 4 separate threads into one, as they all now popped up and runs in parallel ultimately on same subject?

@CyberDymeWell, they all popped up because I tried to answer them all... and corrected the "solution" provided in one... but combine as you wish.

I find it ironic we're getting Battlefield info on the ModernWarzone twitter account. Lol
Have to give something up for getting 128 players on the field.
8k and 120 fps is so far out reach it's not even worth thinking over.
Dice have mentioned how rough 128 players are on the consoles CPU so I expect 60 fps.
