Will new anticheat impact performance?
I used to play BF1 a lot years ago but my pc was average at the time and now just super old. It used to run BF1 fine on average settings, but at some point there was an update that just completely killed it. It ran so slow that it was unplayable, even on the worst settings. I never really knew why other than one person mentioning on here that there was a change to the anti cheat around about the same time. I've just seen that the new anti cheat is being rolled out to BF1 soon and just wondered if that was likely to effect performance at all. If it's just an upgrade of the old one then seems unlikely that it will improve things for me, but wondering if maybe it's an entirely new more optimised set up, then it might actually be playable again.
Just adding a follow up in case it's useful for others. Having now given it a reasonable test, the conclusion is "not sure". There's maybe a slight improvement. I've been able to get it running with a mostly acceptable frame rate, although it still displays the frame rate warning symbol pretty much constantly. This was mainly achieved by reducing the resolution scaling, so unfortunately it looks pretty bad, and does put you at a slight disadvantage when identifying enemies, but it does run. I'm not sure whether I tried these settings before, so I don't really know if the anti cheat has really made any difference.
