Re: Helicopter nerf unwarranted - Unpopular opinion?

Because a nightbird moves much slower than an attack helio and is incredibly easy to kill with an AA rocket if they commit for more than a quick pop shot.

If I wanted easy kills I would pilot a Jet or drive a Tank.

Again this sounds like you dont ever use AA rockets and certainly dont ever fly

Yeah Ive never used an AA rocket - helicopters are overpowered.

  • Sounds like youve either been on the side with incompetent teammates then or idk what your issue is. Myself and my buddy i play with have never had issues deterring helis that show up to objectives.

A heli running off to repair is no different than a tank using cover or a jet running off or a wildcat running away. Its part of the game and always has been, choppers arent OP - teamwork is.

I doubt thats the case that two people could deter a helicopter, back to my original point that two good helicopter pilots can carry a game of 128 people - this is not balanced.

  • Thats just like saying two good tanks can carry a team or on infantry only a good squad can carry a team. It has always happened in BF games before.

The problematic helicopters were mostly those who were bombarding the bases from outside the AA range.

And maybe the range/damage of the minigun on other helis

@NecromantionI was talking about how the sky ceiling helis felt for me on the receiving end.
You cannot really stay out of line of sight of something in the air

@Necromantion Try driving a tank near an objective and see how long you last.
Helicopters just fly in and fly away, tanks get murdered

@warriorjoyPlus the tanks can be immobilized completely by damage, allowing even more hits to come in during that window (if they are stopped in an exposed location).

Imagine if an aircraft temporary lost all its propulsion and steering due to part damage.

I think we had something like this in BF1

  • @warriorjoy How does being able to avoid AA missiles make a heli OP or the rockets underpowered? A rocket where a lock is held till impact generally is a one shot on a heli. How dare flares work most of the time. Or are you suggesting something as stupid that all vehicles should have no countermeasures at all?

Any vehicle in this game requires support, I do drive tanks and have the brains not to over extend myself where theres no foot soldiers to cover me.

As was mentioned a dozen times before in this thread just most people dont want to switch up their loadouts - it isnt hard to deter helicopters if they're doing anything other than sitting near the ceiling (which is still easy to handle with another heli or jet if needed as most pilots who would just hover at ceiling are horrible to begin with.
