I have the same issue. Regardless if the computer is on the same network or if another friend invites me from another network location, I receive zero invite notifications and can not join their games. Also can't send any invites.I have tried the mentioned work arounds and nothing works.

No... I did try running game as admin account, and it appeared to make some difference, but then would still randomly not see him online the next time. Seems to be pure random. No idea whats going on with the code behind the scenes or how they figure out which friends are online or not. The terrible thing is... Battlefield will say "no friends" but if you use the EA shortcut to open the social/friends panel in-game, that will see your friend as being online !
Having same problem. Did all the reboots, restarts, checking equipment, updates, drivers and, finally, uninstalled and reinstalled program. Still no joy. Social shows no friends online when we ARE online. Then, when we try to squad up it will not connect. Shows me in squad and never connects. It's all mucked up. All my other games are unaffected. Did you get any answers yet? I don't see any replies from EA on here.
