Re: Battlefield 2042 Update 2.1.0 Lag on Main Menu

Hi,

thx for Your help. I did a clean reboot and nothing changed. Its laggy choppy and i have about 20-30 fps. The last updates gave me about 80-100 fps. Every other game is running fine (COD, etc.). Even if I reduce the quality i get more fps, but that choppiness and the lags stay.

I changed two things. I updated to windows 11 2022H2 and i installed BF2042 update 2.1.

My guess is, the update has some issues.

@Pennywise888 you could indeed uninstall this windows update, its (kb5017383).
Also if this update is uninstalled and reboot pc, do again a cleanboot and test game again.
I will check your dxdiag now !

@Pennywise888 it looks like your dxdiag is cut down somewhere. I see dxdiag is not complete.
PS any scanner/printer/camera sfotware installed ? disable those service from booting with windows.
I also see some issue with LED software from MSI ?

Could you make a new dxdiag and do not modifie it please !

@jeromeisdabeastcould you check youre audio please if there is an issue with it atm!

    Fix 1: Disable Audio Effects

The audio effects can make your experience more enjoyable, but it definitely requires much CPU usage. Just disable it step by step.

Step 1: Right-click the speaker-like icon at the bottom right corner of the taskbar and choose Sounds.

Step 2: Under Playback tab, right-click your audio device and choose Properties.

Step 3; Go to Enhancements tab, check Disable all sound effects option, and click Apply and OK to save the changes.

    Fix 2: Disable Volume Adjustment

Windows can automatically adjust the volume of different sounds when you are using your computer to place or receive telephone calls. This feature is also proven to be a factor to cause audiodg.exe high CPU usage issue. So, you can also try disabling it.

Step 1: Open the Sounds window as displayed above.

Step 2: Switch to Communications tab and choose Do nothing option.

Step 3: Click Apply and OK to save the changes you’ve made.

Fix 3: Change Audio Sample Rate

In addition, some users successfully resolved audiodg.exe high CPU by changing the audio sample rate. You can also have a try. Just open Sounds window and go to the Properties of your audio device. Under Advanced tab, select another sample rate from the drop-down list, and then click Apply and OK to confirm the operation.

    Fix 4: Run Audio Troubleshooter

If the audiodg.exe is taking up much CPU usage, perhaps your audio device runs into certain problems. In this case, you can use the built-in tool to troubleshoot the problems with audio.

Step 1: Press Windows + I to open Settings.

Step 2: Go to troubleshoot, other troubleshooters and choose Playing Audio

    Step 3: Click Run button.

@Rokebo73 ok I tried the different suggestions you recommended and no dice unfortunately. Sorry to sound like a broken record. Clean boot is also still not working for me. Was there something you say in my DxDiag file that indicated it was an audio issue? I use all CORSAIR peripherals if that helps in any way.

@jeromeisdabeast  you deleted the folder BF2042 in your Documents folder already ?
Just completely delete that folder (or move to other location) and start game ! Calibrate settings again ! Update us please.

If problem still exist , disconnect all hardware at usb ports, only keep 1 monitor , 1 keyboard , 1 mouse and 1 headset connected

(disconnect all other devices when pc is shutdown). Try game and update us again !.

If that still gives issues (even after cleanboot, repair / verifiy game) then maybe you need a fresh new windows install or repair windows !
If nothing else works then do a Repair Install, by installing Media Creation Tool, open tool and choose to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows while keeping files, programs and most settings in place, is the most stable method to advance to the latest version, and solves most problems. Tutorial here: https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/fix-windows-10-repair-install

Let us know what ya did to fix issue (even after a windows repair).

@Rokebo73 you're not gonna believe me but the issue is back again after a windows update and the new update to Battlefield. No idea which is the culprit. Yes I checked graphics drivers, windows updates, admin permissions, verified game files, and deleted cache.

FYI... I had no problems with Battlefield 2042 until I installed EA Play. No I have stuttering issues and I've tried everything to resolve the issues. Nothing has helped.

@jeromeisdabeastbf2042 is using MUCH from cpu !!!

In all honestly I need to reinstall bf2042 to test it again. After it went back to having issues I uninstalled out of frustration. I’ll try reinstalling it tonight and get back to you. Off of what I remember the cpu was not maxing while running the game though.

@jeromeisdabeastyou could try a user.cfg to help your system/cpu a bit more with all the workload
    check this https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Season-3-CPU-Issue/m-p/12088154#M37399

try and update us please !

I reinstalled bf2042 and ran it while looking at CPU usage and it did not go over 10% the entire time. GPU usage was also low in the menu but the fps was still at around 1fps. Adding the userconfig file did not help. The issue is not my hardware I have other games that run fine like bfv and modern warfare 2. My system is an intel 11900k and an ASUS ROG 3080. CPU is water cooled, I have 32gb of DDR4 3600MHz DRAM, and 2tb of NVMe memory. My guess would be that there's an issue between bf2042 and windows on my system since the problem came back after a battlefield and windows 11 update.
