- ATFGunr3 years agoLegend@InS_Hypno thanks for tilting at this windmill for all of us. Just a note for those who may not know it, ensure your “enhance pointer precision”, otherwise known as mouse acceleration, is turned off in your PC. It’s not a game setting, it’s in Windows. Otherwise, yes Dice fix the mouse input. You sorted out console aim assist and we’re still waiting for a simple concept to be achieved, mouse input.

I get the feeling that the mouse input hasn't been fixed because PC players don't actually cry as much as controller players.
For months there was huge threads complaining about the aim assist not working, we just don't get the same about the mouse input and it used to be almost unplayable
- ATFGunr3 years agoLegend@InS_Hypno I had it disabled, installed a new TB M2 drive and a clean Win install, and forgot to turn it back off lol. Oops.

Will this become the new 'Server Browser' thread, once we have the official answer on that one now?
But yes, I agree that it would be nice to have a working mouse for this game. So infuriating to die to console players when you could at least try to be as precise as aim assist and fail just because you can't aim properly.
The sad thing is, they nailed that in BF5 and before and when going back to older titles you immediately notice how a working mouse 'feels' like. Yeah it's crazy how they were able to nail mouse input for 4 games in a row but now the technology has apparently been lost
God I can't imagine how bad the code must be for them to not be able to just use the code from BFV
Really goes to show how bad DICE has fallen as a studio

Even worse!
Handling mouse input is integral part of the ENGINE itself, so its not really BF2042 that suffers from that, but basically ALL titles they plan to release that are based on the current version of Frostbite. Not all games require precise mouse input of course, like a racing game. But if they ever plan to release a new title and they cannot make the mouse input work it will be another thing that would definitely prevent many PC players from buying the game.
Next to many core features that would have to be in from the start, like a server browser, a score board or squad management features -- or NOT in, like specialists -- of course.

There must be something that made reverting back impossible because otherwise I just can't understand why they wouldn't do it

It's my understanding from Julian, the software engineer who coded the controls. That the Frostbite team probably changed something while upgrading the Frostbite engine and that's why controller settings such as aim assist, stick deadzone, and acceleration leak over into the mouse settings.
He said at one time the 'code paths' for controller and mouse used to be separate, but he's not sure anymore because he works at Ripple Effect now and has no insight into what changes the Frostbite team have made during engine upgrades.
- @OskooI_007 This makes sense i have watched in the past dev video dairies from bioware on dragon age 4 then the madden/anthem/nfs videos were the had to hack the engine do to issues like this.
Its like using a 14?year old engine is a bad idea
In the bioware video they tried ot make the game know what sword/arrows are but had to make bullets arrows and spells rockets in the code. Bf3 knife was the sword as the engine knew.
So the new engine not knowing one form the other then just merging seems on par.
On this forum and reddit few months back were images from console users were they removed controller inputs it was from trying to "fix" this remember that. - ATFGunr3 years agoLegend@tom_looken Do you think the controller input settings could have an effect on the mouse settings? I have not adjusted any of the controller settings as I don’t use one, I’m going to go in later and tweak the controller settings and see if anything happens to the mouse input.
- @ATFGunr Yes i have used both in this game and found that this is a thing for both inputs.
Its a war inside the larger war in 2042 - DigitalHype3 years agoSeasoned Ace
In order for them to fix it, they would first have to understand the way in which it is broken. It's not clear that anyone in the position to solve the issue even understands the problem exists. They haven't even mentioned it, other than community moderators saying "looking into it". In my experience that has been CM speak for "don't expect anything".
It can't take 10 months for a company which is completely focused on a single game to fix mouse input on first person shooter. Statement made by the DICE GM in June "We’re completely focused on Battlefield 2042. The majority of the team here, plus our colleagues over at Ripple Effect, are focused on Battlefield 2042."
Either:
1. The right people don't even know or acknowledge that mouse input is not functioning properly.
-or-
2. They know its a problem and have no plans to fix it.

Turning raw mouse input off turns also the horizontal input off completely at least for me.
- ATFGunr3 years agoLegend@Sch1ll1 It did that for me too, was a bit surprised when I couldn’t turn anymore lol. I did it on game so maybe it requires to be out of game or to restart the game entirely.

It actually feels worse than ever with every mouse I own.I tried c4 on a tank last night and it wouldn’t even do anything lol
- BR-DuaneDibbley3 years agoSeasoned Ace@InS_Hypno
We switched to BF5 last night after a few rounds of BF2042. OMFG what a night and day difference in how responsive the mouse is. I needed a full round despite using exactly the same sens to get used to it.
Unfortunately the second round we already encountered a rage hacker (that was at 74:0 just minutes after he joined the server and when we decided to stop playing).
But man is the mouse input good (which simply means: WORKING) in BF5.
Please, Dice, FIX THIS (and I don't mean break it for BF5 -- well, maybe except for those cheaters). - sk1lld3 years agoLegend
How is it, that this is not fixed this late after release?!
I think the delay input may be actually WORSE since the season 2 update, and now it has introduced this weird stuttering when firing full-auto as well.
- sk1lld3 years agoLegend@Ironhead841 Sounds frustrating to have the stuttering too. I stopped playing after fighting the input lag.
- ATFGunr3 years agoLegend@Ironhead841Has the HMG in a Ram start stutter firing last night, in a solo match! Doesn’t get any easier on a server than breakthrough solo, so it’s a server issue or an input issue, and I lean towards input. Mind you, it’s never done it on any other game so it’s a 2042 thing. It’s a wired G502 mouse.
- @ATFGunr Yep my g502, coolermaster mm720 and glorious model 0 all suffer from lag it’s beyond silly now!
