Please add SETTINGS option for handing off the ball.

Three decades of playing EA’s NCAA College Football, I’ve been tapping A in order to hand off the ball in the triple option. THREE DECADES. In 2025 in order to hand off the ball we…. do nothing.

I get it. We all see it in great franchise video games. Unwanted, unwarranted, unasked for changes to iconic games for the sake of the new blood game developers wanting to stand out from their predecessors. Someone at EA is wanting to set the trend and decided to change this mechanic. The absolute hubris involved in making this 100% unnecessary and unwarranted change for the sake of change is neither stunning nor brave. You’re not a trend setter.

As much as I’m trying to rewire my brain, I just cannot stop tapping A to hand off the ball on the read and triple option. I can practice the read option in 2025 in practice mode 100 times a day prior to a game. Then I get well into a game and, as I’ve done for 30 years now, I’ll tap A to hand off the ball and get my face caved in by a defender. Of course rage and insanity follows because I know there’s absolutely no logical reason for this change, other than a new EA team member wanting to make a name for themselves.

Please I beg of you, please add an option in Settings that allow players “Classic handoff” so tapping A always (ALWAYS) hands off the ball in the Read Option and Triple Option regardless of play type or formation.

Thanks.

  • Agree. Really have no idea how to do a rpo pass. If I do nothing, he gives to the rb. If I hold the receiver button, he still hands the ball off. If I tap the receiver button, he throws a lollipop pass to the receiver. It really makes no sense.

  • @Zhukov211 Thank you! This is something EA really dropped the ball on. Why change the controls that everyone was used to? The read option in Madden as been to hold the button to hand off, but these geniuses thought it would be cool to flip it around. The new devs just HAD to be DIFFFFEERRRREENT…it’s dumb.
