- @59hushy6ywi8 I've been playing since the game was released. I have an XBox S but most of my time is spent on console version. The crossplay on console works fine as far as I can tell but playing against PC players on next gen gets frustrating after a while so I return to XBox 1 version. Even though the response time, graphics and sound is much better on next gen I prefer playing a well balanced game without the obvious advantage the PC players have. There seems to be a lot more console players joining the next gen community now but most of them have crossplay off which doesn't help if you have PS friends. Hopefully DICE will add an option to have console crossplay only on next gen to build up the player numbers so we can all enjoy playing fairly.
- @turtlebeached I have a PS5 but chose the PS4 version because of a friend who, if they got the game, wouldn't have a PS5 and I didn't expect those versions to be compatible. On one hand I'd like to see the bigger maps, but I prefer the smaller team sizes so it feels like you can make progress instead of shoot at an endlessly respawning line.
I haven't touched the game since the Feb nerfing. - @59hushy6ywi8 The game improves with every update in my opinion despite the complaints posted on the forums. Yes there are a few things that need to be addressed such as squad management and admin tools for team balance but I have faith in the abilities of the developers to make this the best battlefield since BF3. I've spent most of my gametime in Portal as I prefer hardcore settings and that's the only place you can find a semi realistic game. Have you tried making your own server in portal with the settings you'd like? you cant have the larger maps unless you're on the next gen platform but everything else is adjustable.
- @turtlebeached Oh hell no, not until they unlock the tools, dump the classes, repair the railgun, basically they catered to vehicles and * on infantry. This is by far the worst one right now and I didn't even care much for BF1 or 5. Hardline was more playable than this. I'd put several hundred hours in before Feb, then that was it, so...
Nah I never looked at portal. Not even sure it was there before I left. With the numbers low and sinking every day I wouldn't hold much hope of hosting anything.
I know about the maps, they'd be too empty with the lower team sizes. Just saying I'd like to see the other playable areas but it is what it is. - @59hushy6ywi8 hehehee, sounds like you've had enough. I've been playing every day since launch and yes, it was pretty bad to start with but it will get better. All of the battlefields have been launched in an unfinished condition but the players have a whinge and things get sorted one by one. 2042 has the potential to be the best in the series in my opinion, everyone's entitled to their own.
@turtlebeachedI agree, BF is a big game and once actual players get into it, all the other glitches get found during launch. 2042 probably had one of the better launches, nothing major that I found during the time I gave it. Unfortunately I liked what I had bought and what we have now is not what I paid for.
I want to play, don't get me wrong. They need to undo most of what they did over the last few months. Or if I find more people are running servers with the real game intact.*The potential was absolutely there until they diverted to this terrible path. The last 2 games were too slow paced for me, I wanted a return to BF3/4. Thought this was gonna be it.
- @59hushy6ywi8 If you're waiting for them to fix the soft core version you could be waiting a while, too many soft lads out there complaining because they keep getting shot.
I've been mucking about with the rules editor making twisted games and have lost the regulars of my hardcore server, FULL XP, any gadget-any class, instant spawn for soldier and vehicles, fast movement, unlimited magazines and friendly fire off. I'm back on it now on XBox 1 version trying to get them back. We had some good games and filled up quick after players reached 20. Come on back and get yourself in the Portal. What else was changed that scared people away? I'm not looking to tweak the rules that drastically from the default servers, all I want is what we had in Feb - no classes, C5 for any loadout. I don't suppose you could fix what they did to the guns though. Before I quit I was having fun with the railgun, easily going between sniping and shooting up vehicles.
- @59hushy6ywi8 you could always have a go yourself to customize your own server and populate it with PvP AI to gain some interest. The Any gadget option is just 1 click in the basic settings next to Any throwable button. As for the weapons I think they're all nerfed to balance but you could muck about with the global damage and headshot/ bodyshot strength. I'm an old dog who just spent a little time learning new tricks so I'm not really the one to be giving advice on technicalities. As for the class system, I liked the addition, it enabled me with the help of the any gadget button to carry a repair tool AND C5. As for the drop in numbers, they'll be back.
