Hey, I'm having the same problem. How did you patch it?
- Anonymous10 years agoYou can download the patches here https://social.bioware.com/page/da2-patches or (if you redeemed the code for the game in Origin) you can right click on the Icon of the game and choose "search updates" (or something along those lines, I have the German version so this might not be the exact wording in the English Origin client).

Actually! I called EA about the problem and the patch wasn't the fix at all. The lady on the phone had me manually change the date on my computer to March 21, 2014 and that worked. So that's another solution.
I installed Dragon Age 2 from a disk. I downloaded the patch. I installed Origin, even though I don't see a need for it considering I have the disk. I am STILL unable to get past the error message on the release date check. HELP! PLEASE!
Thank you so much. I followed your suggestion, and it worked perfectly!

thank you for shareing this prety sad that this is still a issue in 2016
Changing the date to 3/21/2014 allowed the EA registration pop-up to appear (instead of the securom failure) in Mac OS. And now the EA always appears, regardless of date and time. So that's one part of the process. But then the EA registration window is now failing... Ok, so I check my EA login, works. I go to their game registration area. Not loading (website delay/issue). Eventually I can refresh and it populates. I enter my product keys (from amazon) there and it apparently works. I launch the game, login w/ same EA credentials, and OMG it finally updated and works... QUITE THE PROCESS...

How do you "change the date"?
- Anonymous9 years agoOkay to change the date you go to your pcs settings under date and time and change it to march 21st 2014.
Not the games settings your actual pc. - Anonymous9 years ago
Huzzah!
I can't believe that worked.
Thanks so much...

Thank you so much! This has saved me getting extremelly annoyed at my computer haha
For me, what worked was logging in to the Origins site, updating, then restarting game. Now all I need to work out is how to map 'mouse 1' button to the attack mode. Computer doesn't recognise a 'left mouse click' as an alternative option to keyboard letter 'R'.....................oh well.
