I did contact EA Help and opened Case #188880072.
After a chat with an advisor, he said that cannot do anything and instructed me to write in the forum:
"I've discussed your case with the concerned team of ours and made them understand the situation and this is something that we need to document and shared a feedback and if possible report the issue as well."
"I would also suggest to report this as bug on EA forum from your end, so that this issue is highlighted on priority https://answers.ea.com/t5/Answer-HQ-English/ct-p/AHQ-English"
"However, since we do not have any utility to make any instant changes or grant refund regarding this case which is why I request you to report it on that forum so that the case will be highlighted to the team."

Exaxtly the same has happened to me. Its disgusting. And the customer service is attrocious. I was emailed on 13th august saying my renewal would be today for 89.99.
Im currently off work so borrowed money to do this for my son. Added the wallet funds and then today its failed as the price is different. Spoke to agent online. Refused to help, refused to let me speak to a manager then ended the chat.
