the memory pictures ? sim sees deer for the first time memory , sim eats at the bistro first time new memory created goes to the scrapbook you can turn the memories off go to Options and choose the tab with the two cogwheels choose the option you want for your memories you can turn them off completely you will have to delete the ones in the scrapbook manually if you want them gone alltogether
- Anonymous12 years ago
No they're not memories they're literally just random pictures of random things that have nothing to do with my sims. They're not pictures of my sims, they're just random sim faces and furniture and clothing

Like I opened the game and didn't even select my family, I just quit at the main menu to see what would happen and 500 pictures were saved.

sounds to me like a featured items folder which is in the pc folders i don't know about mac folders for the sims 3 but that might be the same folder for you just named images which when deleting images from that folder they regenerate when the game is launched again.hmmm could you take a screenshot of the contents of that folder or at least one or two shots of the images so we can be sure it is featured items upload the image/s to photbucket (which is free ) or some image shareing site you might be a memeber of then copy and paste the link here ...i'm sure caspinwall will take a look as online to advise further

Here's a link to what one of the pictures are
And here's just a bunch of them in my images folder
Also, they're not being saved to a specific Sims images folder, they're being saved to my images folder of actual images that I've saved
- rumbutter12 years agoHero (Retired)the images are definitley featured items images edit typo i dropped an s the way my typeing has been today i'm close to dropping the whole alphabet :D
- Anonymous12 years ago
Well this is very strange isn't it. As rum said, those images definitely look like the ones that normally appear in the "Featured Items" folder, but the OP is saying that they are appearing elsewhere.
OP - if you look in the "Featured Items" folder, do you see any images in there? If not then it sounds as though these are the regular images that are generated but for some reason the game is saving them to the wrong place.
Exactly which folder are these images turning up in?
- Anonymous12 years ago
Yeah the Featured Items folder is empty. Here's a picture of where they are. I have mac 10.8 so it's under All My Files there's an images folder and that's where they are being saved
- rumbutter12 years agoHero (Retired)
so they are going into the wrong folder now we need to figure out how to tell the images to go to the featured folders by changeing the folder path for them
- Anonymous12 years ago
Yeah I don't know how to do stuff like that...

we'll or i should say i'll try to figure that bit out for you and post here or i'll ask in the helpers corner and we'll both learn something new 🙂
- Anonymous12 years agoI wonder if it is worth trying to temporarily move your TS3 folder out of Documents and onto the desktop (you can always put it back) and let the game generate a new one to give a fresh start. There are instructions on how to do this in the first post (under "primary things to try first") of Bluebell's help thread here :
http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/Links-to-Mac-help-threads-and-guides/m-p/749664#U749664
This might "reset" how your TS3 folder works. If the OP is willing to try this, then open the game and then close it again, we could see if the images then go into the correct folder. If they do, that might suggest that something odd has rerouted them in the current setup.
What do you think? - Anonymous12 years ago
Hi, sorry that took so long, but that did not work. The images are still not going where they're supposed to go
- Anonymous12 years agoHi
I really don't know what to suggest. You may just need to delete them all when you quit playing. You could try uninstalling and reinstalling TS3 but if nothing else is wrong I suspect you'd be reluctant to do so. If you do decide to: http://bluebellflora.com/the-sims-3-on-a-mac/how-to-do-a-clean-uninstall-and-reinstall-on-a-mac/
Sorry could not think of a better solution. If I find out more about this I will get back to you. ☹️

the thing that just entered my head is and hopes it works is make that folder read only to see if it will prevent the images building up there and make a new folder for the images from the internet that you do want to save but make sure to direct the images to go to that new folder at least for testing purposes to see if the featured items images will stop building up OR will start to go to the new folder..what do you think caspinwall ?
- Anonymous10 years ago
Hi! The same thing is happening to me. I haven't taken any pictures in or of sims and I have not downloaded additional content. I know this is an old post, but did you ever find a solution?
Thanks!
- Anonymous10 years ago
this is happing to me as well and this is why i have stopped playing sims
- Anonymous10 years ago
this is happening with me as well and i have stopped playing sims 3 because of it. I play on a Mac. Have you figured anything out
I have the same problem while using mac, only solution I've found is turning the internet off before loading and keeping it off while playing. Obviously prevents the online features from working if you use those, I personally dont so it makes no difference for me. Either that or scroll through up to 900 images after playing every time.
Hello, I know this is super old but the same thing is happening to me with my Sims 4. I play on a PC but around 500 photos of random stuff is being saved after every time I play. A lot of them aren’t even pictures , they are things that are saying “zoneObjects”
All of end up getting deleted, but the thing is I don’t delete them they all just end up in my recycling bin somehow. I don’t know what is going on, but it is really annoying constantly having things being saved and deleted without my doing.I attached a few examples.
@IsaGrace04 Do you know where they're landing before they wind up in the recycle bin? My first guess would be FeaturedItems, a folder inside Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3. Try making that folder read-only. If that's not the issue, disable the in-game shopping experience through Options.
