Re: School bus problems

@TokusaShi  Does this happen in a new save that's never been exposed to mods?  There is at least one mod that cancels the school bus, and it's possible that removing the mod wouldn't reenable the bus by default.

Please also delete the five cache files in your Sims 3 user data folder (in Documents\Electronic Arts) before you test.  These files should be deleted regularly anyway; while troubleshooting, be sure to delete them every time you quit.  For reference, the files are:

  • CASPartCache.package
  • compositorCache.package
  • scriptCache.package
  • simCompositorCache.package
  • socialCache.package

It happens on a new save (without mods) but I've took them out rn and delated those files, so I'll check the game now if everything's fine.

Ok, bus came. Now I'll check with mods (I have Nraas error trap, master controller, overwatch and story progression. I forgot about them. Can they be the source of the problem?)

@TokusaShi  I don't think those four mods would directly affect whether the bus shows up.  Buzzler made one that allows players to disable carpools and the school bus by choice, and there may be other mods that disable the bus by default.  (I'm not totally sure.)  There are a few things you can try to fix the one save though, in order from least to most intrusive:

    • Delete and replace the school in Edit Town.  This will reset all students' grades to C and kick all adults out of the Education career.  If you don't want that to happen, place another school somewhere else first, delete and replace the original, and then remove the second one.
    • You could also just place a new school and get rid of the original, or leave both in place if the original is really too crowded every morning.  (To force already enrolled students to go to the new school, you'd have to delete the original and place both at the same time in Edit Town.)
    • Use NRaas DebugEnabler, if you're interested in adding it, to Fix Homeworld.  Click on City Hall and select NRaas > DE > Options > Sim > Fix Homeworld.
    • Use MasterController to reset the town: click on City Hall and select NRaas > MC > Town Options > Reset Everything.
    • Evict your household in Edit Town and immediately put the sims back in their house.  They'll keep their jobs and relationships but lose their promised wishes and opportunities.
    • Same as above, except after you evict them, save the house to the bin, bulldoze the lot, and replace it with its bin copy before moving them back in.

Be sure to use "save as" to rename the save, so you have a backup, before each test.  Quit to desktop and delete the five cache files before reloading and testing.
