Sims 3 Launcher will not open.

The Sims 3 launcher won't open, even after uninstalling it several times. I can get into the game using the TSC.exe file, but I can't do any updates that I really want to do. Also the graphics are terrible, not like they were when I first got the game. How can I do updates without needing the launcher?
