@katelynwstxoxo  Right, so OneDrive is in fact syncing your user folder.  Do you want OneDrive to keep syncing it?  Do you want OneDrive syncing the contents of Documents at all?  I wrote a guide for changing the various options, but the first question for you is what settings you'd like to use.  Then I can explain what to change.

@katelynwstxoxo  Disabling OneDrive may help with the lag.  It certainly will help with the troubleshooting process.

Please follow the directions in this guide, specifically "I want to get rid of OneDrive."  If you have a question about any of the steps, just ask.  But it should be fairly straightforward; I wrote the guide a few days ago while testing OneDrive settings on my own machine.

Where you see "Sims 4," just substitute in "Sims 3."  And remember that you can always find your files at onedrive.com, in case you forget to back up something you decide you need later.

@katelynwstxoxo  Great, so now test Sims 3 again.  If it's still lagging, rename the Sims 3 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts to something else (e.g. Sims 3 backup), then try again to play.  The game will create a new Sims 3 folder with no content, but your saves and other content will be preserved in the folder you renamed, so you don't need to worry about anything disappearing.  Instead, create a new save in Sunset Valley and see how it runs.

If you get more lag, please post a new dxdiag.  If you choose Reply, not Quick Reply, you should be able to attach the .txt file to a post here.

@katelynwstxoxo  Your dxdiag shows that Razer Cortex is crashing quite a lot, so please uninstall it and any other Razer software you're currently using.  You may be able to reinstall the app(s) later—sometimes all it takes to fix this issue is uninstalling and reinstalling—but please don't do that until we've fixed the Sims 3 issues.

Please also let me know whether your in-game framerates are capped, not only whether you've set a limit but whether it's being respected.  Open the cheats console (ctrl-shift-C) and enter "fps on" without quotes, and a number will appear in the upper-right corner of the screen.  Let me know what you're seeing, both how high the number gets and how much it drops when the game lags or stutters.

i been had it capped at 60 fps and i have tripple buffering on and put on high graphics, it goes to 60 then it will drop if i go to big lots and turn my camera ect it drops to like 30 to 40

@katelynwstxoxo  The dxdiag doesn't show whether Razer Cortex is installed or not; it just reports on recent Windows errors.  That's how I could see that Cortex was crashing.  There are no new errors in this dxdiag, just the same list as last time.

I mentioned this before, but please make sure you're playing only while the laptop is plugged in and charging.  Running it while on battery will throttle performance.

Please also go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3, open the deviceconfig file, copy the first 40 or so lines (stop when you get to "Options"), and paste that info here.  This will show how the game sees and rates your hardware.  You can delete your computer and user names, about 20 lines down, if you want; the file doesn't contain any other personal information.

@katelynwstxoxo  Good, Sims 3 is using your Nvidia card, which is what I wanted to know, and the GPU is recognized and rated correctly.  But that also means that the obvious causes have already been addressed.

In the graphics options, please set water to "mirrors only" and high-detail lots to 2, then restart your game and your computer.  Start a(nother) new save in Sunset Valley and have a look around.  Please describe any lag you get, not just whether it's present but what exactly you see.  For example, fps drops are very different than the game clock stopping for a few seconds and then catching up.

theres fps drops and sometimes a little a lit bit of screen tearing when i move the camera and some times it frezes for a couple of seconds then comes back on

@katelynwstxoxo  Some fps drops are normal, although framerates shouldn't drop too low.  For reference, I have a desktop with an RTX 2070, and the game runs at a smooth 144 fps (capped) a lot of the time, at 2560x1440.  But when there are wild horses on the lot, fps can drop into the 70s, and panning the camera anywhere around them causes some stutter.  I've noticed stutter with other objects too, to a lesser extent.  This is with my 2070 not anywhere close to maxed out.  It's just one of the limitations of the game.

You mentioned the Smooth Patch by Lazy Duchess, and I do think it's worth using, minus the two .package files, which can conflict with NRaas mods.  Keep water and high-detail lots to "mirrors only" and 2, respectively, to keep from overtaxing the game engine.  If you're not particularly into horses, I'd suggest disabling them in the game options—as mentioned, wild horses can cause fps drops and stutter, and so can domesticated horses in other households.

Having said that, you shouldn't be seeing micro-freezes.  Please try playing while your computer is offline.  You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before pressing Play.  And please also disable the EA App's in-game overlay; the option is under Settings > Application.

@katelynwstxoxo  Please try playing in a clean boot: I'd like to see whether any other apps are interfering with the game.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows-da2f9573-6eec-00ad-2f8a-a97a1807f3dd

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down anything that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example Asus software might still be active, and you'll need to close it manually.  If you accidentally kill what turns out to be an essential process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

Please still test a new save and while your computer is offline.

One more thing: please test in both fullscreen and windowed modes.  While in fullscreen, play at an in-game resolution of 1920x1080.
