Re: F1 22 CSL DD (8Nm)

It would be nice if it worked for oversteer or understeer only. But the wheel goes light even when there is no oversteer/understeer situation. I can be in a fast corner barely turning (5-10 degrees) and then the FFB goes light all of a sudden and because of that i turn much more (45+ degrees) and it * me over....

@dronord551993Strange, I have a CSL DD myself and this doesn't happen to me. The wheel goes light only in slow airpin corners or when you turn too much, as it should btw, since that's how it really works in real life also. Never happened in fast corners. The only way to happen in such instance if you either lose grip or you turn too suddenly (so that the front loses grip).

Yesterday I tested it in assetto Corsa.

    Assetto Corsa:

Wheel feels heavy(correct) -> I turn too much and the wheel goes lighter -> I feel it and correct myself.

    F1 22:

Wheel feels heavy(correct) -> all of a sudden wheel feels extremely light (like it lost power completely)

-> as a result of this I turn even more and lose the car.

I tried Jeddah circuit. On the back straights I drive close to the wall (barely turning the wheel) and all of a sudden wheel is completely light and as the result I turn into the wall that I'm driving close to.

Similar situations also in slow corners. I'm mid corner, everything looks fine and then wheel goes light and because of that I turn too much and lock up or lose the car.

Maybe I have wrong in-game settings or fanalab settings. I can send my settings here when I get home from work.

It almost seems like the game loses connection with the wheel for a moment (so that FFB is lost) from how you describe it. It's not so easy to understand why it is happening and I doubt that Fanalab settings have something to do with it. You could try also asking in the Fanatec forums (for example Marcel) on what could be the issue that can cause this to happen.

  • Also, does it happen always or only in certain modes? For example does it happen in Time Trial?

  • This dam "edit" function, you cannot edit messages under the bugs section without having to compile the bugs subscription form (something naturally I don't want to do given that I'm replying to someone else).

    Anyway:

I really cannot understand if what you are describing is just you experiencing understeer/loss of control (in which case the wheel WILL go light) or if it's a legit technical issue. In any case if your instinctive response to the wheel going light is to continue turning in the direction you were turning before then you have the wrong instinctive reaction, as the right one is to immediately release the turning and counter-steer in the opposite direction (depending on how sever the loss of traction is).

If it's not a legit technical issue then the wheel going light is the actual FFB telling you that the car is losing grip and you should release the turning so that grip is restored.

I don´t think there is a loss of connection, because the wheel still reacts to my inputs. I´ll try to ask on fanatec forum. I had similar feeling to the wheel at release of the game, but i was able to offset it to higher angles with changing of ffb settings in Fanalab and ingame.

It happens in time trials, then i tried one race in multiplayer experienced drivers and then i was pissed off and stopped playing.

I believe I´m not *, because in Assetto Corsa I´m able to correct when the wheel goes lighter. I was also using understeer enhance in F1 2021 with Logitech G29 and CSL DD. I really liked when the wheel went lighter and i could save some situations.

But now in F1 22 I would compare it to trying to loosen a rusted screw with a wrench. You use all your strenght to loosen the screw, but it doesn´t move at all. Then when you expect it the least the screw breaks and you still using all the force keep moving in the direction of pushing/pulling.

I´m adding screens with my settings.

Yesterday I was playing multiplayer and the ffb is feeling "ok". By far not perfect. By far not very natural. But it is finally possible to drive. I don't get those complete loses of ffb strength anymore.

Right now I'm really curious if it was randomly "fixed" by multiple restarts of my computer in last days. Or if there was some hidden update from EA.
