@RHEPES just to clear things out, I am guessing @SteveJackson isn't defending F1 24.

He is just trying to tell us that this screen freeze and stuttering will not be fixed by @CM_TGK. If they can't fix, they will not apologize to us nor issue refunds to people who are complaining about this issue specifically.

My GPU is an RTX 3070, and I know people here have a different hardware configuration. But that doesn't explain why people suddenly got these screen freeze and stuttering issues specifically after 1.14 patch.

@SteveJackson I appreciate you taking time and playing the game yourself to reproduce this issue, and as I have previously reported, and reading your comment and watching the video, it is evident even you got screen freezes (doesn't matter how significant it was).

Moreover, I never mentioned anything about moving from race to cut scenes, the issue reported here is screen freezes and stuttering specifically during the race.

I am not a league racer, nor do I compete in any competitive racing. But I hope you know, in a racing game like F1, even a small screen freeze or fps drop can really ruin anyone's race.

As for me, whenever I race, I usually go for Grand Prix mode, and the Time of Day is always set to Official, regardless the length of race I choose.

And I will re-tell my observations: according to me, it is the Ray Tracing and specifically the lighting that causes these stutters and fps drops.

Better more qualitative feedback is the aim. Thank you for your comment.

I do not use Ray Tracing as the FPS was around 60 at 2K which is what I play at. The game was (is) neither optimised enough or my card / drivers weren't good enough when I tried (either when RT was introduced into the game or I purchased my current card which is an RX6800).

I may be tempted to revisit as the drivers are more mature. I was not wowed by the RT effects for the reduced FPS at the time.

So the issue is related to ToD probably different lighting & reflections.

*Ugh* - Ultra High Preset chosen. Looks no better and performance tanking. TBF, the Adrenaline drivers have been pretty consistent and the game has not been optimised. I will seek out some F1 24 benchmarks and see if I am off par for any reason. I suspect not, but the FPS is around mid 40's, consistent though, no drops but the car feels horrible and the Ferrari engine sound is laughable 😛

EA/CM 'recommend' RX6800 for RT, well safe to say, I don't. I'm not even sure how they make these requirements up.

My system is R5 5600X and it performs GPU equal to R7 3700X and performs about 4-6 FPS less than a RX6800XT (approx 10%) at 2K. (CM 'Maximum' requirement).

My system:

cpu core i5 3470 3.2ghz

Gtx 1060 3gb

16gb ram

windows 10

This tests have been done on both on lap graphics benchmark option ingame and a 3 lap race on the same conditions:

A list of tests, until now nothing solved the fps drops, that cause the game to stutter. It seems that the cpu usage goes 100% usage at some rabdom moments:

- lowered all graphic settings

- low settings with different aa modes (taa, taa fidelity, fsr and xcess)

- vsync on, off, fps limited in game to 250

- vsync from nvidia (fast, adaptive and on)

- added f124, ea anticheat and even my wheel profiler to windows defender exclusions

- changed the hardware settings.xml by reducing resolution scale for all parameters that have this available

- set all parameter from car reflections to false, off or disable

- ran the game using dsr on lower and higher res form native

- ran the game in windowed mode, borderless and full screen

- tried the game with a controller and with keyboard instead of using a wheel

- monitoring cpu and gpu usage its clear that the game loads cpu to the max in some track sections. It happens in long straights and close complexes where there are buildings, such as the last sector of abu dhabi where we go below a building.

- tested with default ffb wheel settings and with my custom settings

- tested with and without on screen hud  

None of those works.

I reinstalled f123 and tested it and its just no comparison. The 23 entry runs perfectly, i can even play with graphic settings and tweek it a lot and the game keeps it smooth.

A noticed as well that f124 is looking more blurry, it seems that there are some jagged line visuals but it is kind of a kind of blurry finish on it, and light reflections makes ghosts over the car surface. Its not a toouch blurry look, but even with taa fidelity it looks like im using the Amd Fsr on low medium quality all the time.

Still adding to the discussion, I've being searching to other people that has the same issue, I see a lot here in the forum and in the steam forum as well. But I couldnt find any content creator that is talking about it. If any of you here knows anyone making content aboutthis issue on YT or can make a video talking about it, I would gladly engage and share.

My CPU usage does not spike but a spike does cause framedrop. Your CPU is 4 core / 4 thread. Test show the game uses up to 12 cores, Ryzen 5 or newer Core i with Octa & HT.

You're close to minimum spec. I ran the same combo 16GB/i5 3470/1060 6GB and Medium preset was best you could run.

Since i bought the game i play it easily with up to 75fps with a mix of graphics settings between performance and visuals.

As I said, the game is not going for gpu peaks, but instead it goes with spikes on cpu usage. The gpu handles pretty well, although, as I mainly play with friends in leagues, i dont care much for the graphic effects and stuff. 

But the game has always performed smooth just like the F123 to me. I even posted some videos of the previous races I did on Youtube and its easy to see that the game was very smooth before the 1.14 patch and on.

What i mean is that my specs have been this since I bought the game, it didnt changed, the game did.

This freeze and FPS drop needs to be fixed, if it's not fixed, no one will invest in this game anymore.

@RHEPES, indeed this has to be addressed, acknowledged and fixed with the next update.

That's the reason I am trying my best to share every piece of information available and requested by @EA_cuervo and also with @EA_Groguet.

When people like you and me who play the game, and report these issues, only then will @CM_TGK act on this and take this seriously.

Playing Ultra Low has it’s own issues.

This will not load the GPU sufficiently and it may downclock which will introduce stutter.

You should always try to find the setting which will give the GPU work without either starving it (bottlenecking) nor giving it too much work to render frames consistently (frame time / dropping). Not always easy, but why the card is detected in games. A start point.

@TheGrigs, Content Creators like Aarava, Alex Gillon, Tom Martinez have spoken about the game, and I believe they have provided the feedback to EA / Codemasters. But as we all know, apart from handling, nothing changed.

If you tune in to twitch livestreams of Alex Gillon, you can see him complain about lags or stutters, more specifically at Imola.

In the latest twitch livestream of 4 player career race involving Alex Gillon, Rasin Chy, Tom Martinez and Adam Sanderson, I don't exactly remember the lap number, but the race was in Las Vegas, just before the long straight along with DRS you can listen to Adam Sanderson say that he got a massive screen freeze.

Again, it's a nighttime race, so this all makes sense and lines up with the observations we are providing and specifically saying that this is happening post 1.14 patch.

Content Creators primarily play this game to make money, and whether they like it or not they will play the game, stream on twitch, upload videos on YouTube to make money which is fair.

But if you see, ex F1 eSports driver Marcel Kiefer, who was literally playing F1 24 a lot when the game launched, has now literally stopped playing F1 24. If you check his YouTube channel, the uploads are mostly on other racing games like iRacing and some Assetto Corsa.

Even Content Creators are demotivated and have given up on F1 24, simply because the feedback that they give to EA / Codemasters isn't even considered. The issues that they speak of is not addressed in the game updates.

EA / Codemasters is only bothered about the least asked for and least used options of the game, i.e. F1 World.

The harsh reality is: EA / Codemasters are building the game and updating it as the way they want and like. They are not interested in making the game better or improving it by incorporating the feedback we provide. Thats the reason the number of active F1 24 players is very low.

The thing is, we the "paying customers" / "game players" are doing our absolute best to take this game in the right direction by creating these bug reports and threads.

But EA / Codemasters is least concerned about our reports or the game itself.

With the settings I mentioned, the game was perfectly fine before the 1.14 patch.

After 1.14 patch is when these stutters, screen freezes and fps drops have started happening.

And I switch to Ultra Low only when the game becomes unplayable. Just to complete the race I started.

I certainly can tell you my appetite to start the game is limited to trying to point the troubleshooting in some kind of direction. 

BASE GAME - MAKE IT WORK.

Does not need Nvidia this, AMD that. Take out VR. Define proper GPU and CPU requirements that game is built and tested on (it’s called developing). Use universal rendering. 

Even do it on one track. Get modes working, get rules correct. 

Check the car is working, the setup is working.

Check the gameplay is correct.

Make online matchmaking work, make multiplayer work, forget crossplay.

Make the AI work and set the correct strategies.

I double dare they could not make a ‘Silverstone F1 Simulator’ work.

@SteveJackson, Exactly what we all are literally begging @CM_TGK here.

Make the game stable and playable. Instead of spending time, energy and resources on that useless F1 World, just fix the stability of the game.

I really cannot explain how useless "I" and also probably the other players feel despite doing our best in reporting these issues to EA / Codemasters, and they don't even bother fixing it or acknowledging it.

Revert the graphical performance of the game to before 1.14 patch, so that screen freezes, stutters and fps drops can be eliminated.

I have the same issue on 2 different computers. One with a 4070 Super and one with a 7900XTX. The problem is clearly that it runs out of vram due to a leak or glitch somewhere . The XTX has 24 Gb of and using it all is simply absurd.

The program has been benched and your issue is something else. With 16GB VRAM the game uses 11-12GB of VRAM and 15-16GB of System RAM (Smart Access Memory enabled or ReBAR as Nvidia call it) as can clearly be seen in my videos in the previous pages.

@SteveJackson  This is on 2 different machines. I'm saying that there is an issue causing it to use a lot more than normal or in my case all of it, which causes it to use ssd space as vram which is very slow.

Someone had this issue previously on an earlier game (high RAM / VRAM usage, IIRC it was on Codemasters Forums) and I was right. There was a problem in their setup. It was about 24GB RAM usage, again IIRC as all those old forums are offline. 

Should not be slow, textures and objects are loaded into RAM and use ReBAR/SAM. 

I'm really tired of this game, the freezes and frame drops are destroying me.

It's not as bad in my game with my settings. But I never had a version prior to 1.16 except the free weekend and the EA Play trial.

I would delete the hardware_settings_config.xml and try play. Don't alter the settings it chooses, play. Then if it's okay, try changing the settings and see when the error is introduced.

I deleted this folder, but the freezing problem still exists,

the game runs smoothly for me but freezes after 5 minutes.

I request the game developers to update and fix the problem.
