Re: Lack of female diversity in MyTeam driver pool

Hi @BinkyStrider,
Maybe in the future EA/Codemasters could add in the FIA W series. It would compliment the F2 and F1 modes. Its a complete different car and would be fun to drive. It would help newcomers get up to speed. F1 is Formula A. F2 is Formula B. The W series is Formula C.
Female avatars would be cool, Jamie Chadwick would be the top rated.

@ALittleTiger7You sure about that? Look at the F2 2021 championship, look for who dominated the last 5 rounds pace wise and is nowhere near that level in the game.. I would never put my trust into the ratings that end up in the game.

And regarding the topic, even without adding W-Series this should be a thing, its all about diversity now and stuff yet only male real drivers and if they were adding female drivers i dont wanna think how badly rated they would be, but rating them better than some guys like Piastri just for the sake of it would be tough too... Can already see the shitstorm no matter what they do but its something that needs to come

Thanks for the responses. I have been following W Series and am excited for the future of the category especially as now it is officially linked to the FIA calendar. As to whether we would see at any point inclusion of some of the drivers would cause a big upset, as you would need to officially add 20 new drivers to the F3 pool, and also add F3 drivers from the official F3 category too, with another 20 odd drivers. That's way too much work and totally unneeded.

It's sad to see Tatiana is completely removed from the game. I had a lot of fun playing with her as my team mate in the Arden BWT, especially as it has some really sad connections to a certain event back then, it was extra nice to be able to hire her for her maiden F1 outing (yes I know, I am role playing!!!) but it's probably a contractual issue with her not being associated with F2, and is now driving Indiecars as to why she is no longer included, but the last two games are detrimental to the fact that the real life  F3, F2 and F1 categories are devoid of any females.

I also realize that these above categories are saturated with young men all hoping for one of those very rare coveted seats, I do appreciate teams must always choose the person who they think is best for the team and car, and not choosing someone because of any virtue signalling point scoring. All the female drivers that compete in motorsports also think the same. Hence the W Series.

I think at best Codemasters could include one or two female drivers to hire, completely fictional, even with low to mid range stats. Then if I want to create an all female F1 team I can.

Yes, other games, for example Motorsport Manager on Android have addional Real drivers from various series licensed  to their Main license, so should be no Problem, if one wants. Fictional chars could be useful to mod them to be replaced by Real drivers. Driver slots like in F1 2020 and they can be Customized using an Editor like they have in sims would be nice. Those drivers should then be recruitable.

    Hi @Meza994

Its a tricky issue to discuss. Some people feel the W series discriminates and segregates females but I feel its a good series.  We have to start somewhere, right? Any port in a storm and all that.

Tatiana was prresent in a few iterations ago. For me personally I welcome females or males as long as the racing is good. I support diversity and gender equality. We need to look after our fellow sisters better.

I think EA and Codemasters are on board with this "sensitive" topic. I think females entering F1 could be a reality in the future thus female avatars in the future games..

@ALittleTiger7 I too am supportive of the W Series. As you mention when it began there was some push back from women, even Claire Williams at first (although she now is fully supportive) feared the segregation of women in motorsport. However as we are dealing with the very top end in F1 with 1000 bhp engines, it takes competitors physical fitness to a whole new level. Tatiana Calderon herself mentioned even driving in Indiecars was really something, I mean the winner himself was completely emotionally and physically exhausted after 100 laps.

Yes we have to support our sisters, but also let's not forget about the boys. So many young men competing for one or two slots, coveted seats in an F1 team and probably in the bottom tiers. I gave this a lot of thought, and the CEO of W Series mentioned some surprises coming soon. I would wager it's a W Series F3 (W Series cars are a less powerful version of an F3 car by miles) but this could help springboard some of the women drivers, the most fit and able into F2, or maybe even a women only F2,F1 series (using F2 cars) then only the best of the best and fittest of the fittest would be in the right position for one of those coveted seats at the very top.

Anyway, it's all conjecture, I would imagine there's generally not too much enthusiasm from the majority F1 community, or the public. But either way, as I mentioned above whether women can get a better chance to compete in the highest tiers of motorsport, or make their own version, I am ok with whichever comes down the line. You could argue some of the most fittest and talented female football players should be able to compete in mens teams, but it would be far and few between.

    Food for thought.

Sure, how not. The high-school men's team not only won but totally demolished the World Champions' female team, but sure, there's not really that much of a difference between the two. I sometimes wonder on which reality some people live where biology and anatomy are completely irrelevant concepts.

Yes yes more female 2nd driver options please…. I can’t remember her name but she drives for Aston Martin and I want her…. Yes please she’s hot 😁

in all seriousness I believe in equal opportunities and not equality off outcome.  But surely there should be a option to pick a female 2nd driver
