Blinding sunlight during Qualifying sessions, especially when playing in HDR

Product: F1 22
Platform:Xbox Series X
Summarize your bug During qualifying sessions at some tracks, the sunlight is blinding.
What is your 16 digit Report Code? TPVX-RDAB-XEMK-GBEG
Which area is the bug/glitch in? My Team
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Did you have cross-play enabled? Yes
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Enable HDR. Go to USA. Set weather to Clear (Dry). Set time to Realistic. Start a full qualifying session. Drive a lap. The sunlight becomes extremely strong once you reach the 2nd DRS straight. See the attached demo video for reference.
What happens when the bug occurs? The sunlight is extremely strong. You cannot see very far ahead. The sky turns completely white. While driving around sector 3 in USA, the sun glare constantly appearing and disappearing is very distracting. This happens at multiple tracks, but the worst are USA and Great Britain. This happens in all game modes when the time is close to the realistic time of the qualifying sessions.
What do you expect to see? The sunlight should not be strong enough to degrade visibility and make the sky completely white.

  • @REDRA-11 I imaging it’s by design. All racings games do it. As it happens quite often in real life. Even when just driving down a public road. Also I’ve personally seen road traffic accidents caused by blinding sunlight

Just noticed the video.   It’s definitely by design.   It’s not a bug

COTA is certainly challenging this year because of this. It's not totally unrealistic in that it's obviously totally possible to be blinding by sunlight when driving a real car but the issue is it happens at the supposedly realistic time of day and the real-life conditions the drivers face aren't the same. In game it's best to just choose to race at a different time of day I think.

There's about a 0% chance of the game being modified in relation to this now, although hopefully it's an aspect that will be born in mind for next year.
