- @jpkarlsen How do you have a Sim set the table? There doesn’t appear to be an option for this, is that something that comes with a pack?
Ya, I don't seem to be able to find any way to do that either.
@redxlaser15 and @ChapelParalysis I think you need the Parenthood pack in order to see the "set the table" option. It comes with the new behaviors and values system as an option to develop good manners.
As for the original question, I don't think there is a sure-fire way to make sims eat where you want them to (among other things). But, I think it helps to drag meals to the table before directing them to grab a serving. More often than not, they'll pick it up and actually sit at the table to eat. Make sure you put the meal towards the center of the table, though.

If I have a dining table and a counter with barstools, my sim will usually sit at the table and rarely sit on the barstool. Never anywhere else unless her spouse is at home. If her spouse is on the sofa watching TV, she'll take her food and sit on the sofa with her spouse... which I think is rather sweet. @Psychotps That's kinda cute actually. 🙂 If I direct my sims to grab a serving from the fridge, they sometimes eat right there in front of the fridge. lol Depending on where the table and bar stools are, they some times choose one or the other. However, if I drag the meal to the bar, they usually sit at the bar and if I drag it to the table, typically they sit at the table. Again, it depends where these things are placed and it's not always certain every time. lol

In this house I was playing recently, the sim would ALWAYS sit at the table and never at the barstools unless I directed them to. The barstools are clear and usually closer after making/getting food but my sim always walked past them to sit at the table every time.
I know the barstools work because several were used during the initial housewarming thing that always takes place. I needed a little room so I ended up removing the table and chairs and she uses the barstools constantly now.
I've never had any sim just stand at the fridge and eat. The only buggy thing I've seen is if left to their own devices, they do things wrong. More than a few times they'll be hungry, make something, leave it on the counter, and make something else. But if I TELL them to make something, they'll always cook and eat it just fine. Never had much problems with where they choose to eat.
