Re: We should be able to board Tempest without leaving the planet

May not be easy. Those animations / mini-cutscenes are there to cover up the loading process.

For example each time you board the ship the surface-orbit cutscene is played while the Tempest interior is loaded. Orbit to surface, the same. If they weren't there, you'd proably be staring at a static loading screen instead.

It should not take that long to load such a small area as the Tempest. And its not like the game doesnt already feature you on the ship while landed. You can see the Nexus landing bay on the displays when you first take control of the ship. Plus we should have a room at the station for accommodation where we can change gear etc.

Its just easier to have it the way we do now, and its like this because of time crunch during production. Its a shame but its what it is.

Well, the ship sits on the planet once landed. So it could be made like a building on the planet that gives you access to everything in your ship as if it were your ship. Then when you go to your galaxy map and press lift off, you get the mini-cutscene. This would enable accessing your ship planet side while maintaining the cutscene set up.

That would be my solution anyway.
