Future Game Ideas
APOLOGIES, i write a lot.
Probably should preface this by saying i have probably heard others mention some of these ideas in the past and just forgotten it, i doubt i am the first to have this thought.
FUTURE GAME IDEAS:
EA/Bioware feel free to use these :D
So first, i enjoyed all 4 ME games, i have my reasons, i'm not going to argue them in this post just know that i am open to new games in the andromeda galaxy AND the milky way galaxy. Some of my ideas are more fleshed out than others, bear with me.
Milky Way:
1) Right so first off, I WANT THE RACHNI WAR. imagine how much content could be in a game set over a thousand years ago, no humans sure but you have asari, turians, krogan. This is a species that if i remember correctly fought the protheans during their cycle and i believe (my memory may be off) were indoctrinated by the reapers and tried to attack the galaxy because of that, like aggresive collectors basically.
A MAJOR reason why i fell in love with ME1 was because of the scope of this threat the reapers posed, a whole galaxy being threatened by an ancient foe? EPIC. rachni may be less powerful that reapers and we do know the ending but there is a lot to be said about the story that can be told DURING the way just like mass effect 3 was. it would be a self contained game or 'spin off' starting with explorers opening the relay and leading through the council or a spectre (our protagonist? OF AN ALIEN SPECIES OF OUR CHOICE???) going around and getting the asari, salarians, turians and any other species that were known at that time to band together against this threat (volus, hanar, elcor, batarians and quarians were all known i believe, imagine pre geth quarians!!! ), then the drama of unlifting krogan and fighting with them to repel the rachni.
This Concept excites me for numerous reasons, first the rachni are relatively untouched, this game would give the opportunity for a swarm type enemy to be designed, for rachni ships to be drawn, for combat on toxic planets maybe with environmental hazards AND we get to have the citadel, relays and all the stuff from original trilogies. ALSO we could play this game as a krogan, they live LONG LIVES, if you dont want us to choose a species of our choice we could play a krogan on a beautiful planet who lives through the uplifting and then the rachni war before seeing tuchanka being destroyed by nukes post rachni war.
Final thought on the rachni war idea, if you MUST have a human protagonist, the shadow broker was a species stolen illegally from its planet, i dont remember if humans were discovered before space flight and just observed but salarians 'illegally' kidnapping some humans could be an excuse for a human protagonist in tthe rachni war although.... he would be from like the 500's so he would be a medieval soldier at best :P Food for thought with melee weapons and bows in a space game haha.
2) The obvious sequel to the rachni war, assuming the rachni game is a commercial success you follow it up with the chronological successor, the KROGAN REBELLION YEAH BABY!!!!
Starting off, if we are a krogan in the previous game it could have lived through the whole thing and you are now an old krogan on whatever side of the war the protagonist story is set on.
The concept of this game will be the growing discontent among the krogan with them trying to get more space to expand, and also the politics of the council taking forever to agree to anything and basically being a brick wall the krogan are trying to reason with.
Honestly where I compared the rachni war to Me3 i would compare this to ME2, when you land on horizon and in the brief interactions and cutscenes we learn that the colonists dont trust the alliance and they moved out here to get away from the politics. Same idea applies to the krogan, through miscommunications and growing discontent they start to distrust the council and other races, they start to rebel and want to seperate themselves so they can do things without being controlled, other races move in to stop rebellion, krogans react violently, "YOU SEE, THEY ARE TRYING TO SUPPRESS US" (basically some power hungry krogan starting a fight just to rally support). a cutscene or honestly just civilians rioting on the citadel could be put in to emphasise the civilians pushing for the krogan statue to be taken down on the citadel (i believe this was mentioned in ME1) and the council refuse to take it down because it commemorates past krogan actions not current ones.
The idea for this game is very political but the fun lies in the krogan trying to hit planets with asteroids, large space battles and land battles, new krogan warlords being introduced and you the protagonist trying to stop them and bring peace but to the galaxy. The war is being lost and then you go on a final mission to drop the genophage onto tuchanka and prevent any krogan from coming in the area while it is being dispersed. It would be a game that fleshes out the bloody history of the krogan and completes the story of tuchanka going from a lush jungle to the wasteland we know in the original trilogy.
Final thought for this idea, Omega, i don't remember how old this station is but if it was around during the rachni war and krogan rebellions this could be the perfect opportunity to visit omega when it was still an asteroid being mined out and when a new leader is in charge (or it is lawless and has gang wars). alternatively the krogan that aria beat to take the top spot could be in charge although this would make him like....1500 years old in the original trilogy which is ancient even for krogan i am sure. Being able to see omega with a different leader or without a leader would surely be new and exciting.
3) I'm gonna put the sequal before the prequel here. The krogan rebellions ended over a thousand years before the ME trilogy which leaves so much space for known events or unknown events to be fleshed out. i know the drell world collapsed at some point and the hanar saved them but aside from that the creation of the geth and the quarians being driven from the homeworld is the best i know of. A game around the geth becoming intelligent could be interesting with the quarians asking for help and the council refusing but this would be a small scale game compared to the galactic scale conflicts of previous games.
My thoughts here go to the asari saying that the galaxy cannot go a single asari lifetime without a major conflict. You could argue the geth are that conflict but even this didnt involve the asari directly that i know of AND it happened over 1000 years after the krogan rebellion so what happened in the asari lifetime between the krogan and geth rebellions? and if the geth rebellion doesnt count cause the asari didnt fight in it, what happened in the 1000-2000 years between the krogan rebellions and humanity popping up, there are POTENTIAL CONFLICTS. I won't be suggesting a load here but bioware have a lot of talented writers and there are plenty of science fiction stories that could be used for inspiration. All i'm saying is, a large scale conflict in this gap would be ideal for the 'conflict every asari lifetime' and also for giving us some new lore with all the established species. It could be something as simple as a civil war breaking out where some spectres and/or former council members or a alien version of cerberus tries to rise to power and you play as a spectre fighting to stop this civil war and restore order, travelling to worlds we have visited in previous games to take down important leaders of the rebellion and help turn the tide on planets locked in combat. attempted assassinations on the citadel and all the fun stuff.
4) This one is a prequel to the rachni wars if it comes out later or just a game before the rachni wars game if they make a new trilogy (prequel, rachni war, krogan rebellion).
The only war i know of prior to the rachni is the turian unification war which dont get me wrong, could be an interesting game focused on the turians we all know and love uniting under one banner but as far as story goes i personally lack the ability to think up something interesting at 2:51 am my time.
5) If a prequel was to go back fuuuuurther than this is would have to be something we dont know about orrrrrrrr PROTHEANS!!!!! imagine a prequel where you play as a prothean, you see the primitive asari, turians, salarians and either interact with them as gods or you just hear about them like easter eggs in the game but dont actually interact with them. story could be about prothean conquering other races and trying to unify their race, also i believe they were fighting a war against an ai like how the quarians fought the geth so a prothean vs ai game could be new, or uniting the other races into the prothean empire. Alternatively, bioware could dabble in cycles before or after the mass effect trilogy and go through new stories in the citadel/relays with whole new species and lore and just never tell us which cycle it is.
Andromeda:
6) Time for the andromeda galaxy, i havnt got anything special here that cant be done in the milky way but i wanted to say that i am open to the possibility and excited by the idea of a game where we get more on the kett and the race that built all the terraforming equipment in this galaxy. I viewed andromeda as the mass effect 1 of the new trilogy, a game built to introduce a new world and lore and get us into the world first and foremost with the sequels being where the galaxy is fleshed out and combat /enemies are improved.
I want to find out more. I want to learn about more races the Kett have conquered and .... what is the word for this.... 'turned' or.... you know, absorbed into their empire xD i want to see more species IN THE ANDROMEDA GALAXY. dont even play like this isnt possible, the angara have been seperated and at war for a while so with so little knowledge on their past it is easy to believe they have no clue what other races are in the galaxy,
More games in the andromeda universe gives us the chance to have a new council formed, new spectres, to go through a similar thing to what happened when the asari found the citadel and started meeting new species, having andromeda games navigate the difficulty of meeting new species, giving them embassies and approving worlds for everyone to own is a whole world of opportunity just waiting to be tapped. then with the kett being a known threat to the galaxy and the people that made the terraforming equipment possibly showing up as an advanced opponent (or ally?) there is a lot to be considered. I'm sure bioware has a plan for this galaxy already but my 2 cents on the matter is MORE SPECIES, MORE PLANETS, MORE ENEMY VARIETY.
7) There are of course smaller games that could be made, more indie games if you prefer. Games that focus on one small location or story and possibly deviate from the standard rpg/shooter formula of mass effect, maybe becoming more linear and story based (less decisions and more THIS IS THE STORY i mean).
Ideas for these smaller stories off the top of my head?
Omega: Aria's rise, maybe a story about her love with the turian whos name i forget and the fights they went through.
Cerberus: hell just a game where you play as cerberus in a strategy game trying to expand your organisation and research anything that might help humanity no matter how unethical only to have the evil commander shephard constantly destroying your facilities :P
Geth: You know good and well an action/detective game is waiting to be made about the quarians and geth. think of irobot where you are a quarian looking into weird robot behaviour and trying to find a rogue geth only to realise they have formed a concensus and you need to warn people. then people try to shut down geth but it is too late and they attack en masse, queue the sad ending where the quarians lose and you watch the survivors fly into space and stare back at their burning worlds (the destruction of war before the geth rebuilt should be visible in space).
Citadel: SO many options here..... a c-sec game about crime, a management game about economies, a spectre game where you have large operations to handle (basically the trilogy).
Gangs: blue suns, eclipse, blood pack. a game about their wars, history, who knows.
As i said, plenty of small spin offs could be made in this universe, I probably should have stopped at 6 :P
Hope you all enjoyed, hope bioware sees this and maybe considers some of it, who knows, it is late and i was considering the future of my favourite franchise.
