Re: Household won't follow commands

@Evie3223 Did you uninstall all mods/cc or just the most recent one ?

Game issues is for unmodded games (so empty mods folder)

  • Just the most recent ones, i hadn't installed any new ones for awhile before that. I've never used this forum before, where else can I get help for this problem?

Hi @Evie3223 Older mods can cause problems after a game updates, or you might need to reinstall some mods checking for new installation instructions.

As a first step, I'd suggest checking Broken/Updated Mods for recent updates. If you're updating a mod, first delete the old version and the localthumbcache file. Redownload the new one, and check the installation instructions.

If you still have the problem after checking for updates, the next step is to do a vanilla test and a 50-50 of your Mods folder to identify problem mods in a systematic but not the slowest possible way.

Thank you, the problem is still present with no mods installed, but I will check them too.

@Evie3223 Make sure you've removed the whole Mods folder, so that CC is included, and deleted localthumbcache (often one of these steps gets missed). Try loading a different household then that one after you do that as well - it might reset it.

I've removed all CC too, and just deleted localthumbcache. I've switched to other households but when I return to that one the problem persists. They will now very slowly complete certain tasks, though, which could be seen as improvement.

@Evie3223 Let's see if a clean folder clears more of the problem than deleting localthumbcache (always delete that when you change the Mods folder content). If not, I'll move you over to Game Issues.

    • Exit Sims 4 then drag your whole Sims 4 folder from Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop.
    • Launch Sims 4 and reset your Options.
    • Start with New to test if your issue recurs.
    • Exit and copy files out of your old Saves folder into the new Saves folder. Important: Don't just copy the old folder! You want to use the newly created folders.
    • Launch Sims 4 and test your household again. Exit without saving.
    • If that works, you can copy your old Tray files (this is your Library), Screenshots and Videos files, then mods/CC in batches.
