NHL 22 1/2 rebounds edition is literally what this game is has become...you play PERFECT DEFENSE and all they have to do is shoot a floater and the goalie doesn't know how to kick the puck to the corner? This has been the biggest joke of a game and the forums speak volumes. The lack of response from EA does not leave me wondering how they receive the worst awards any company has ever seen. Lets hear it EA you going to FINALLY fix this junk you call hockey?
Rebounds have been broken for years. Either the physics don't make sense or the play the AI goalie makes on it doesn't make sense.
Rebounds aren't physics based in EA NHL games and never have been. Pucks always have a destination, based on player attributes. That is why there are no loose pucks, and why you have a better chance at scoring off a rebound off a slow shot from the corner than from a hard slapshot from the point.

I don't agree that pucks have a pre-determined destination based on player attributes. I do agree, however, that there is a pre-determined path.
I believe, regarding rebounds, that pucks always bounce to certain areas because that's how EA has programmed the 'physics' off of the goalie pad. It appears to me, that the rebounds have 3-4 pre-determined angles coming off the pads. EA has programmed the offensive A.I. to also be in those locations, so that's why the rebounds always tend to land right on the tape of the eventual scoring player.

Nothing is pre-determined.
While I agree that rebounds can be an easier way to score, setting your D strategies to collapsing and protect net will help keep your players in better position for gathering up rebounds.

That very well may be the case. I just know it isn't physics based from all the hours I have played the game over the years.
Rebounds in the 2k games felt way more organic and unpredictable, and why there were actually scrambles to get to loose pucks in the slot.

This hasn't really been my experience. While I agree goalies could handle rebounds better, most of the time my defenders are picking them up. Not that I never see a goal from a rebound of course. I'll shoot for them if I get the opportunity. They're a part of the game and you see them frequently scored in the real world. I play D in EASHL and you can tell when the other team is setting up for them so I position myself to have a good chance at picking them up first. Again, rebounds may not be perfect, but a video game also isn't exactly a 1:1 recreation of the real world sport. Hockey has some incredibly difficult physics to capture in a video game so it's not always going to be perfect.

While it is true about better position, that's ALL you get because they stand and watch you get scored on, and if you try to switch, it doesn't work fast enough to make a play anyways. What would you suggest?

I would suggest being more proactive and getting in position better when you see that play developing. Also, manual player switching may help. Holding on RT/R2 and flicking the right stick in the direction of the player you want to switch to should select the player you want. Also, staying in position in general will help. Try not to chase the carrier with a player that pulls them far out of position.
