Both will have the same core EA account, and due to this, they won't work for cross-play, our system will see them as they same account, despite one being linked to a Microsoft account.
Community AdminHI, i believe that you'll need an EA account for each active player, so you can't add the same account as a friend. Please create individual accounts for those who want to play, those should add as friends without issue.
@EA_DavidWhat about the unlocked cosmetics and progression? If a new EA account was made, one of the platforms would have to start all over, which is terrible news for those (like in my situation) who spent countless hours on both platforms to level up and obtain wanted cosmetics, just to start all over again. Some may even spend money on both platforms, which makes this issue very unfortunate for them. A fix could mean that the systems for cross-play should allow adding yourself as a friend on Apex specifically (I think). At it's current state, you can't do that, so people who want to play with a family member (which seems to be the most common reason to having this problem) on two different platforms cannot play with each other because both platforms are linked with the same EA account. It may not be an option to make a new account just to use the cross-play feature to some people.
I strongly suggest doing something about this so players who can't create a new EA account for whatever reason can still play with their family member or whoever, even if both platforms are using the same EA account. Thanks for reading.
Do you have to have an EA account? If so do you use the username for that account? I've been trying to add my brother ps4 network id and it says not found. Same when he tries to add my xbox live gamertag. Going through apex find friends option and it just says not found.
Absolutely agree with above comment. It’s horrible that I have spent tons of money on my sons ps4 specially on Apex and Fortnite yet you’re saying we can’t play with each other on Apex?? Due to being on same way account. He’s 10 he don’t have an email lol. With today’s technology this seems absolutely dumb that it can’t be fixed. Hoping Beta will help see this issue and fix for permanent game play with family members in same house can play with each other on cross play platform.
My son and I can play together but we have to have a friend invite us both to the same squad it is annoying.
