What happens when the bug occurs? The season title audio ID breaks up and cuts out during the branding splash. Also, the 3D-rendered background in the loading screen chugs really hard. Don't know if the two are related issues.
What should be happening instead? Clearly playing sound, and a better framerate on the loading screen.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Launch Apex Legends Legacy on a PS4 slim.
WTF Respawn? The loading screen glitches (not to mention the server issues) make this season look buggy, unprofessional, and poorly tested from moment one. Even though you've officially voiced commitment to improving the technical quality of your game and infrastructure (in a nice blog post), the reality increasingly trends toward sub-par. For example: my team hit three consecutive ranked slo-mo matches yesterday, my player account crashed/disappeared last season, and every day I get kicked during shooting range sessions (server shutting down) and experience bizarre control input lag variance. With the new season failing to launch, smaller signals like these start to paint a much bigger picture (I can almost feel your infrastructure melting away in real-time).
No, these issues aren't fan-service flattery (our game is just too popular!). They reflect poor planning, underinvestment in upkeep, rough team management, and sub-par QA. There is no substitute for attention to detail. A lot of people care deeply about Apex Legends. It might be appropriate to reevaluate some of your data-service providers, or channel some game revenue into solid dev coaching (really, I know a guy). At the least, reassess these emergent shortcomings and seriously commit to more fully supporting the unique product that so many of us love and share.
