Shot through the ground or damage indicator was pointing wrong direction

I just had this occur to me. Enemy shooting me from behind, but damage indicator showed he was in front of me. I was out of action for 30 seconds, and his teamate crept up behind me and the same damage indicator error occurred. It looked like the hill was shooting me but i turned around and he was there behind me. Not sure if its a hack or a bug, but I fought other people earlier in that match with no problems with the damage indicator.
